We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alex Cruz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alex below.
Hi Alex, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
I’ve taken many risks to be in the position im in, such as leaving my job for a year to start my business and fully focus on creating and building the structure of it. I had no money, 2 newborn twins and a great support system from my girlfriend. within a few months I was making money off of my services and doing Uber eats on the side making enough to pay the bills. Risk well taken! Now im able to work a job to fund my business and put the business on cruise control while I seep scaling up.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Alex Cruz owner and founder of Cruz Control Entertainment. As I started my career as a music artist, learning the game and understanding that the guy behind the scenes is the one making all the money, I transitioned my focus on creating a brand to cater to all of the music artists needs. This journey then became a passion of mine, which turned me into a graphic designer, photographer, videographer, content creator, artist manager, podcaster and much more! While learning all of these new roles, I brought twin babies into the world. Raising two babies while raising my new found passion was very stressful and challenge, A challenge that led me to have a stress given stroke which took me out of work for 6 months until I was back to normal. After that I grew my business even stronger and more structured and learned to deal with mental health and stress a lot better. Time management is now priority and im able to play all positions for Cruz Control and at the same time be an artist a father and a supervisor at a 3rd party logistics company.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The way I built my following on social media was mainly gained by my music career, traveling to different states and having events like mansion parties in Florida, Performances in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and more. After transitioning my career to a more business driven mindset, I started a podcast and started doing live music reviews which boosted my likeness on social media and started to gain trust with my following. That also brought in clients and building my following which eventually turned into a music artist podcast out of Nashville Tennessee shinning a light on upcoming music artists.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source if new clients has truly been word of mouth or referrals. I provide great work for clients and the work speaks for itself which draws in clients from clients. My best clients have been club owners and social media influencers as they take their brands Alor more serious which makes my job a lot more fun.
