We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alex Cottles. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alex below.
Alright, Alex thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Relentless determination and patience is what it takes to be successful. If you’re a business owner like me, it means waking up every day and appreciating your business and how far it’s come. Nurturing it and valuing it even through the lows and hard times.
Success is a subjective and personal journey so it’s all about defining what it looks like for yourself.
Regardless, the path there is all about balance, patience, determination and appreciation.
Alex, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Alex is the founder of The Routine Creative, your One-Stop Brand Shop™. Alex has been the lead designer working alongside Tyler and his team since 2016. He has helped hundreds of online business owners take their business from blah and boring to beautiful and brag-worthy! His primary goal, other than making you look oh-so-good, is to foster long-term partnerships with friendly clients who value a tailored branding experience. He is based in Dallas, TX where he lives with his husband and cats.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The sheer fact that I’ve been able to create a 6-figure business solely on self-taught design chops illustrates resilience. I couldn’t find a design job with just my associate’s degree from a community college but that was a blessing in disguise. It forced me to strike out on my own and not allow failure to be an option.
Apart from that, having a business survive covid and continue to flourish even through inflation and a rough economy speaks to resilience as a business owner.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative for me is collaboration and transformation. The ability to collaborate with other business owners and transform their vision into a reality that will serve them for years to come is truly a blessing. I still pinch myself when I see my branding on a client’s post or in retail stores.
