Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alessandra Volker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Alessandra, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success is a multifaceted concept, often defined differently by different people based on their values, goals, and life experiences. However, there are some commonly recognized attributes and habits that many successful individuals share. In my opinion the ones listed below are very important:
Clear Vision: Understand what you want. This could be a personal or professional goal. Having clarity of purpose often acts as a driving force.
Determination & Persistence: Success often comes to those who are determined and persistent, even in the face of adversity.
Hard Work: This is fundamental. While occasional stories of quick success circulate, most achievements are the result of consistent effort and dedication.
Lifelong Learning: Continually seek to educate yourself, whether it’s formal education, self-study, or learning from experiences and others.
Risk-taking: Often, success requires stepping out of your comfort zone and taking calculated risks.
Positive Mindset: Maintaining a positive attitude, even when faced with challenges, can keep you motivated and help you overcome obstacles.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name’s Alessandra Volker and I’m from Brazil. For many years I have been looking for what I really like to do in my profession and after many attempts in various areas of art I found myself in textile art with fabric painting. After having found what I really like doing in life, everything started to flow. It’s a transformative experience when one discovers their true passion. When you align with what you genuinely love to do, life often takes on a new rhythm, and many aspects seem to fall into place effortlessly. When you uncover that special something that resonates deep within, life changes. It’s like tuning a radio to the right frequency—suddenly, there’s clarity, and the static disappears.
Finding what you love brings with it a sense of purpose. The tasks that once seemed mundane now hold meaning. Days no longer drag on aimlessly; they’re filled with enthusiasm, and the hours seem to fly by.
There’s an inherent energy that comes with doing what you love. This energy is infectious. It not only fuels your own spirit but also lights up those around you. Challenges that once seemed insurmountable become puzzles waiting to be solved, and setbacks are merely detours on the path to success.
When you’re in alignment with your passion, doors begin to open. Opportunities that once seemed out of reach come closer, and the universe seems to conspire in your favor. Every encounter, every experience, feels like a nudge in the right direction.
Connections become more profound. You find your tribe—those who share your fervor and support your journey. Together, you celebrate victories and navigate through the tough times, knowing that growth often comes from adversity.
Most importantly, there’s joy. A deep-seated, unwavering joy that comes from knowing you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. It’s not just about achieving goals or reaching milestones—it’s about the journey itself. The daily dance of diving deep into your passion and emerging enriched, ready to face another day.
In this flow state, life feels harmonious, like a beautifully composed melody. And while there will always be high notes and low notes, it’s the music of your soul’s song that makes it all worth it.
Discovering what truly resonates with me was a long journey, but now it only brings immense joy and fulfillment. The journey in art is as important as the destination. I enjoy every moment of exploration, learning, and creation. And I know that my passion will undoubtedly shine through in my artwork, making it all the more beautiful and impactful.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
There’s a depth to the creative process that those outside the realm might find elusive. Here are some aspects of the creative journey that non-creatives might find challenging to grasp:
The Emotional Connection: For many of us, our creations are extensions of ourselves. They’re not just projects; they carry a piece of our soul. So, any critique or feedback, even if constructive, can sometimes feel deeply personal.
The Ebb and Flow of Inspiration: Inspiration isn’t a faucet we can turn on at will. There are moments of intense creativity followed by periods of stagnation. It’s not procrastination or laziness; it’s just part of the creative cycle.
Value Beyond Monetary Terms: While we may sell our work, its value to us often transcends monetary metrics. The hours, emotions, and vulnerability poured into each piece make it priceless.
The Vulnerability of Sharing: Presenting our work to the world is like baring a part of our soul. It requires courage, as we open ourselves up to both praise and criticism.
The Constant Evolution: Our style, preferences, and expressions are constantly evolving. What we create today might be vastly different from what we produce tomorrow. It’s a journey of self-discovery.
The Solitude: Creation often requires solitude. It’s in these moments of isolation that we can deeply connect with our thoughts and emotions. This solitude isn’t always about being lonely but about finding a space to listen to our inner voice.
The Struggle with Self-Doubt: Like everyone else, we have our moments of doubt. Sometimes, we question our skills, our voice, or the relevance of our work. Pushing past this self-doubt is a continuous journey.
The Satisfaction of Creation: The joy of bringing something to life, of translating a vision or emotion into a tangible form, is incomparable. It’s a joy that might be hard to explain but is central to why we create.
To my non-creative friends, while you might not always understand the intricacies of our journey, your support, your patience, and your willingness to engage with our creations mean the world. Your perspective enriches our work, and your encouragement fuels our spirit.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFTs represent an exciting frontier in the world of digital art and ownership. They hold promise, especially for creators seeking new ways to monetize their work. However, like any emerging technology or market, there are risks and challenges involved. Potential investors or participants in the NFT space should educate themselves thoroughly and approach the market with caution.
