We were lucky to catch up with Alessandra Saggese recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alessandra, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, let’s jump into one of the most exciting parts of starting a new venture – how did you get your first client who was not a friend or family?
I want to start the interview thanking you for the opportunity. Well, my first client actually reached out to me through Instagram. One day I received a DM from a potential client in Boca Raton inquiring about a carpentry and decorating project. It made a very special connection and to this day I maintain a great relationship with the client. I try to manage my IG account in a very natural way. I post a lot about the whole process, from the behind the scenes to all the obstacles that one may encounter along the way. I am certain that this is the key to create such connection with my audience.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Of course, my name is Alessandra Saggese, I’m from Caracas, Venezuela, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Management. Later on I received my Master’s Degree in Public Relationships and Event Organizations in Madrid, Spain. Although I liked what I studied, I soon realized I was not passionate about it, I didn’t feel 100% fulfilled. Therefore, in 2016, I decided to move to Miami pursuing a career as an Interior Designer and ever since then I haven’t looked back.
I have no doubts in my mind that my background helped a lot to be where I am today with my career as an Interior Designer. I truly believe that as an interior designer, you not only create, but also must find ways to communicate and pitch your ideas that will set you apart from the rest. The details and uniqueness are part of your personal brand and definitely differentiate your work from other designers.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I think that nowadays there is a lot of information and misinformation available to everyone. My best advice is to find that element that differentiates you from others and be yourself. Social Media shows a perfect world, but many times people need to connect with reality, the struggles and obstacles. I think that is something that I have kept very present on my socials. Maintain the connection with your audience, respond to their comments, interact with them. Create a relationship that feels personal.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mount has been my best tool. On several occasions I have mentioned the importance of creating a bond with your clients. Our work is very personal since we are inside people’s homes. Finishing a project and making your client happy is going to be the best referral you can get.
