We were lucky to catch up with Alessandra Leto recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alessandra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Absolutely! My parents are Italian immigrants. They left their families behind to came to the United States to give themselves (and future children) better opportunities in life with education, experiences, and work. What they taught me is that with hard work anything is possible. They also taught me that in life you have to sometimes take big risks for a great reward at the end.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got started in the influencer space by accident, all happened organically. I enjoy sharing my life and photography. Instagram was the platform that provided me the ability to share in ways I couldn’t do on other platforms. Once I started sharing, brands took notice and began to reach out to collaborate on campaigns. I really had no clue about bloggers/influencers at the time. So all of it was so new to me.
I think what sets me apart from other influencers in this space is that, I have been through a lot in my life. I literally could write an incredible book of the things that I have been through. I think those challenging experiences have allowed me to grow and also be able to share some of what I learned to help my followers. I think for a lot of women, there is this underlying need for perfection and they keep certain things hidden from others to see. I put my vulnerabilities out there. Which is super scary at times for me but it really does help my readers feel brave in their own stories. To see another unapologetically herself and sharing hurts and disappointments allows other women to feel less isolated in their own lives.
I also think that’s the thing I am most proud of, accepting my whole story. The good, the bad, and all the in-between. Nothing is ever perfect and owning one’s story has tremendous power to help impact others along the way.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of what I do is to connect with other women on a deeper level. When someone reaches out to me and shares that something I wrote or shared online made them feel seen or less alone, I can’t tell you what that does to my heart. That to me is truly the most rewarding part of what I do. It’s the driving force of why I show up online each and every day.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As a digital creator, I’m in a digital space along with billions of other people. Being a small fish in a big sea can be discouraging at times. But everyday I try to show up and provide something to my readers that can help them in life, style, or travel. Showing up in this digital space, for the last several years, definitely demonstrates my resilience to keep pushing forward and not giving up. It’s been about perseverance and self motivating day in and day out. This isn’t a space for everyone. But it’s certainly been a life changing space for me.
