We recently connected with Alessandra Flores and have shared our conversation below.
Alessandra, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
There’s a ton of trends happening from fusion yoga, yoga Nidra, yoga with pets/animals, yoga for athletes, but the one I’m most appreciative of is Yoga for kids. After the pandemic, school officials, mental health officials, pediatricians and parents have all seen a drastic change in their students physical and emotional wellbeing. Teaching yoga to kids can help improve their focus, concentration, and flexibility, while also promoting creativity and relaxation. Parents are actively looking for ways to connect with their children and encourage healthy habits. We are seeing and abundance of support surrounding the mental health of our future leaders and I love it!
Alessandra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello! My name is Alessandra Flores and I am the CEO and Founder of Sol Realm Yoga. I have a Youth Specialist background with the Montgomery County Recreation Department and currently serve as the Youth Health and Wellness Specialist with The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission. During the pandemic I found my passion for yoga and what it means to rediscover yourself. I discovered a new meaning of self-love, self-confidence, and awareness of my feelings and emotions and the trauma I harvested over the years. As a Certified Teen Life Coach and Youth Advocate, I teach yoga to help empower youth, discover self confidence, increase mental awareness, and encourage ambition, and goal setting. I get asked all the time if I provide yoga classes for adults, and yes I do! Since 2022 my offerings and staff have grown to support all needs. We offer pre and postnatal yoga, yin yoga, Hatha, mediation, reiki sessions, stretching services, and much more. My mission is to help all of our students brake barriers to let their light shine through!
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
The advice I would give is to instill respect, confidence, and always be supportive of your instructors/staff. Offer feedback and related training to keep their minds fresh with new ideas! I would also suggest to compensate your staff fairly and explain any benefits you may offer.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I would say networking. One simple conversation can lead to opportunities and clients you never thought of reaching.
