We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alesha Bullock. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alesha below.
Alesha , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I created the Curvy Ladies collection to celebrate body positivity and raise awareness for mental health. This mission is deeply personal to me. My mother passed away from an accidental overdose when I was 22. She battled schizophrenia and severe depression, the result of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse from those closest to her. Despite her struggles, she was a strong, single mother who raised three daughters.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, my name is Alesha. I am a mixed media artist working in both digital and physical art, I’m also a mental health advocate, based in Cleveland, Ohio. I am also a wife and a mother to two incredible young men.
My journey as an artist began in childhood when I won my first coloring contest in kindergarten—I was hooked from that moment on! For the past two years, I’ve been active in the Web3 space, using my art to share my healing journey and creativity, which has brought me solace.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My mother passed away from an accidental overdose when I was 22. She battled schizophrenia and severe depression, the result of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse from those closest to her. As women, we carry immense intuition, strength, and a nurturing spirit—because we hold humanity within us. The world needs our hearts to heal and transform the next generation. If you’re listening, never let anyone steal your joy, hope, or confidence. No one can define who you are. You are a beautiful, divine, and powerful being. Your voice matters. You can make a difference.
Above all, love is what truly matters.
Creativity has been my refuge, but I’ve learned that you cannot force someone to heal. If you know someone struggling with depression, understand that you cannot change them—only they can choose to seek help. But you can speak life, truth, and encouragement, guiding them toward the light.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I learned that abuse and depression has a huge impact on our confidence and wellbeing. What we allow to happen to us and others is a result of a direct reflection on our surroundings. Also the presence you keep.
