We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aleksandra Kokotovic. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aleksandra below.
Aleksandra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
From an early age, everything I did and that occupied my attention was unusual, full of creative activity and imagination. I was a very engaged child, active and full of life. Commonly I came up with new projects, both in a group and on my own. Even then, I knew that I was not destined for a job from 9 to 5, but that I had to move, create, and be surrounded by interesting, different, authentic creatives, as well as that the experience itself should be beautiful, free, inspiring, in order to make me completely happy and fulfilled, so that I could communicate with my soul and express freely what I carry inside me.

Aleksandra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I entered the world of art very young, still in the lower grades of primary school. Then I learned some basic elements of creation, but I always tried not to fall into the trap of conventionality and excessive traditionalism, as well as academic postulates, because art must be free.
The tree of life is formed in childhood. That tree has its own destiny.
The deepest secret is that life is not only a process of discovery, but also a process of creation. While you are discovering yourself, you are also creating yourself.
I believe that paintings and other forms of art are an are an intimate portrait of who the artist is and what he believes in.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
A work of art is always an adventure in front of new unknown things. It is so exciting and inspiring. The creation itself is good for the soul, that is truly rewarding. I try to fold into my drawings multiple experiences, recollections and conversations, so I return home with something that’s alive. Art always questions the boundaries, engages the mind and imagination and the whole body, memories, the artist’s knowledge of both the matter itself and everything that surrounds it. Pictures are the organic fabric of the artist’s being, the content of his soul, the evolution of emotions, God’s trace, which is a reflection of the divine secret in us.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I go with a flow! I enjoy inspiring the community, people around me, making art lovers happy and thought provoking, but also those who are a rare audience.
Special moments that happen during meetings at art exhibitions, in the studio and with other fellow artists are what drives me.
I usually create work that inspires me at a given moment. I believe that a happy artist only by happiness weave his work.
