We were lucky to catch up with Alejandro Torres recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alejandro, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I’ve actually had two projects/videos that were very meaningful to me. I like to make videos out of my restaurant visits & two videos went viral that brought a lot of business to the restaurants. That to me meant a lot because it’s cool to think my dumb little videos help people out.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well my name is Alejandro Torres. I live in LA and I’m a content creator. I’ve always had a thing for creating content on social media ever since I was like 15-16 years old. Throughout the years I’ve had YouTube accounts that have came & went. I got on TikTok before it became what it is now in the summer of 2019 and I loved it. It was basically shortening what I did on YouTube so I was able to put out my videos out and bring my ideas to life faster. By doing that, I was able to show people the real me and that’s how people started to follow me and created my following. I would tell stories about my life and people really seem to enjoyed that.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
It’ll be to make people laugh and just forget about the problems of the world for a few seconds. One of the best comments I’ve gotten on one of my TikTok videos was “I had a really bad day and this video made my day. Thank you.” and I will never forget that. Making people feel good & making them laugh is my reward.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started to get a following on TikTok from telling my personal stories. People related to some of my situations and they would really interact with me by telling me their own stories.
My advice to someone that wants to grow on social media is always be yourself.
I know it’s something you might hear a lot on the internet but that’s only because it’s so true. One saying that I’ll never forget is “there’s always a group of people on the internet that will relate to what you’re going through”.
Find your people and it’ll make being a content creator so much more fun.
