Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alejandro Rowinsky . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Alejandro thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I never knew, nor thought much about that. There were two special moments that led me to follow this path. The first one when I was 16 years old, I went to the movie theater to see the documentary film “Imagine: John Lennon”. The film chronicles Lennon’s life and musical career, and at that point I felt something new inside me. I was fascinated by the music, the work, and the life of this great artist. And from there I made the decision to start playing guitar.
4 years later I attended the concert of Brazilian composer and musician Egberto Gismonti and his group, which is the best thing I have ever seen at the level of live music entertainment. It was something extraordinary. After that concert I remember that I couldn’t sleep and I repeated to myself that I had to follow that path no matter what happened.
I made the decision and here I am,
I’ve never program any career or analyze the steps to follow, always let myself be carried away by feelings and intuitions. I had to do many things to keep me alive, all of that was worth it for what I’ve experienced in my recent years.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
At the age of 19 I joined a rock band, we played some gigs and when I turned 23 I was invited to share stage with a well known folk songwriter in my home country. When I left my life in Uruguay to move to the USA and pursue a career in music, I realize that despite my efforts nothing truly prepared me for the wild world that awaited in the streets of Miami. I tried to place my songs for different artists but it was very difficult to navigate the Latin music market.
I’ve always played in bands or solo, and I was also teaching guitar lessons, but my regular job as a Taxi Driver was a part of my life, working hard and earning my living,
When Uber appeared in the market, the Taxi industry was ruined and gradually disappearing. At that time, my wife who was always looking for new ventures, read about a casting audition for a Disney show and she sent a video of me playing guitar without my knowledge. They called me for an audition, and they confirmed me in the role on the next day. So I said to myself: from now on, I think a new stage in my career will begin. And I was right.
Seven years have passed since that day, I have had the opportunity to play in more than 40 cities, 13 different states, at music festivals, live shows, Theatre plays, TV series, movies and so many different venues. Besides, I’ve represented my home country with one of my original songs in the International Song Festival of Punta del Este
I am currently living in Creede Colorado, doing a residency at the Creede Repertory Theatre playing guitar for the musical Always Patsy Cline and also performing a role in Native Gardens contemporary comedy .
I feel very happy in this place, just like the beauty of this dreamed place, surrounded by nature.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
There are many rewarding aspects, one of them is being able to play and make music every day,
Another important one is to carry this dream, to share it with people, to be able to show my passion and seeing the connection, that people love it, and confirming that I was not wrong.
Another gratifying aspect is that my son sees that his father has managed to accomplish so much, despite being in a very difficult environment, It is very important as parents, it is the best example we can give our children is to show them that we have to fight for our dreams, and can be achieved.
I have met very talented people and made some friends, and another very important aspect is to see the happiness of my wife in her eyes, she is the second person who really believed in me and we are very happy going through this journey together.
The feeling of being lost in the night of many cities with different people in beautiful places and just me holding the guitar in my arms, showing and transmitting what I love, what I like, what my heart feels, is very gratifying too.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to keep me on this path, which is a miracle, I’ve been going through this journey for 7 years and I hope to continue, but it’s not something easy because we are currently experiencing very difficult times.
I want to continue making music, writing new things, participating in shows, accompanying singers,
I have achieved everything by healthy and fair competition with hundreds of other musicians, attending auditions and sending my material.
To keep on traveling the world with my guitar, living magical nights and wonderful moments.
