Alejandro, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
Since I remeber, I like to know the unknown, I would like to see the world, and what has to offer, so yeah I like to take vacations anytime I can. Work is not everything in this life, we need to enjoy our time doing what we love, and one thing that I love the most is to travel.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For the people who don’t know me, I am an entrepreneur. I was born and raised in Mexico, but along the way I have been traveling and living around the world. That helped me a lot, to live in different country that makes you change your point of view about different things, about life and everything in general. I returned to my country with an open mind and with new ideas. I knew since I was a child that someday I would have my own company, but I didn’t know how to get there. I was determined to do it, even when I was studying in college, I didn’t know what to do. I had the idea in my mind and a goal, but I didn’t know how to get there. I studied civil engineer, and I did a master on valuation of real estate and now I have my own company, it was a long way to get where I am now, but it was totally worth it. I invested in agave, the plant that the tequila is made of. And now I live doing what I love the most, traveling, working in the real estate business, and making tequila.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I started working in a small business when I was in my last year of college. We were just four people working there. I was studying civil engineer and I wanted to work in construction or something related but a friend of mine told me about real estate appraiser. I hadn´t thought about it much, but I liked the idea of becoming an appraiser. I entered knowing nothing, but with a lot of motivation to learn. The more. I was in the job the more I liked it. With the company that I worked for; I saw that they weren’t willing to grow as I hoped for. I was aspiring for more and I’m kind of ambitious, so I wanted to make my own company, but I didn’t have capital to do it. I worked with them for four years, saving as much money as I could, and I was building relationships with the people that I met when I appraised their homes. Some of them recommended me to more people until I had my own portfolio of clients. I had some capital and some clients, so I decided to found my own company. It was hard at the beginning because I need to pay some bills and I was just starting to make some money, but the incomes were low. I wanted to give up because it wasn’t what I was expecting but one lucky day I had a chance to meet a guy that who has connections and we hit it off very quickly and became business partners. He had the clients and I had the hard work so we complement each other and our business grew more than we expected.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My partner was the one who saved me and saved himself by finding me. A friend of mine recommended me with a friend of his because he was looking for an appraiser. He was working for a notary, but they were looking for an appraiser because the one that they hired was neglecting work, now that we talked, he saw something in me that made him to trust me. We started working with a few clients, but what they liked the most was the efficiency and speed in which the work was completed. They had a lot of clients but couldn’t manage them. They started to give me more and more of their clients until I was the principal appraiser of the notary. He needed my signature in the papers and I needed his clients to keep me working. It was random or just lucky, but We made a great company with that.
