Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alejandra Trujillo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alejandra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I believe as most of us creatives, I was attracted to the path of creativity from a very young age. Ever since I can remember, I have always had my hands on some kind of creative endeavor. From childhood to adolescence it was always my biggest passion until it was time to decide on a career path. The only logical choice for me was art.

Alejandra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a multimedia artist based currently in Tucson, Arizona, born in nogales Sonora, Mexico, and raised on both sides of the border. I work creating murals, sculptures, painting and other mixed media art. My favorite medium is spray cans, I love the coverage and versatility.
My passion has always been art, and I’ve spent my entire life pursuing it. From a young child I was exposed to a lot of art in my grandparents curiosity shop. They made, painted and sold many of their curiosities sold there. I am now the 3rd generation of Mexican artist and proudly find much of my inspiration in our culture.
Now as a working artist myself, I offer custom commercial and residential murals as well as portraiture, sculptures, and other merchandise from my artwork. I feel incredibly proud to not only My Mexican culture but also my artistic bloodline. I also feel very proud of the amount of work I have been able to accomplish while homeschooling my three children.

Have you ever had to pivot?
There have been a few circumstances in my career where I had to pivot focus. I have many interests as far as art goes. I enjoy sculpting as much as I like painting, so focusing on one specific thing is a little bit hard. Sometimes. I’ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to explore every medium my heart desires. For example, I’ve worked with the miniature museum and created many different miniatures that were sold in their lobby. I’ve created 3D installations with sensory aspects. I’ve been fortunate enough to create over 50 murals in the state of Arizona and all while still working on my own personal endeavors. At first it was hard not having one specific path to follow, but I found that having multiple different projects that keep my brain creative is what brings me the most joy.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me is seeing how my artwork enriches people’s everyday lives. I love hearing what my art evokes in people without them knowing. My favorite part is when people are caught off guard by a mural or something beautiful in their community that distracts them from their everyday commute.
