We were lucky to catch up with Alejandra Trevino recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alejandra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
Investing in my professional photography degree was the best decision of my life. I remember people constantly saying, “Photography? That’s not a professional career.” Still, I knew deep down that this was what I wanted, and I felt confident in choosing my profession.
I never doubted my decision; on the contrary, I was excited every day to keep learning and enjoying the wealth of information that grew daily. I feel fortunate to have turned my hobbie into my job.
The COVID-19 pandemic presented an opportunity for me to start my business. I launched a philosophy called “You Ship your product, I Shoot.” I began doing product photography from home, managing the entire creative process with clients online via Zoom, and conducting the photo shoots without their presence due to contact restrictions. Gradually, I experimented, gained clients, and expanded my skills. By the time the pandemic ended, I had built a solid client portfolio and started incorporating various branches of commercial photography, such as architecture, portrait, editorial, and food photography, while also overseeing the creative direction of my projects. Fortunately, things started going really well, and I began to grow my team, for which I am very grateful.
Eventually, I moved into a photography studio where I can express my creativity freely while doing my work.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Alejandra Trevino, 24 years old, and I live in Monterrey, Mexico. I am a professional photographer and creative director. As far back as I can remember, I have always loved developing my creativity. I consider myself talented at bringing my visions to life. In my personal work, I reflect on themes related to human consciousness, neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy. I am interested in the intersections of art and commercial photography, establishing connections between them and combining them in my work as a photographer. Control, art direction, and light are fundamental elements in my production. I am inspired by details, contrasts, shapes, and shadows, as well as the observation of my surroundings and minimalism. Conceptualizing, constructing, and presenting compositions gives me a sense of satisfaction. I use photography as a form of meditation; it allows me to focus completely on the present and on what I am doing. Additionally, in the commercial field, I work in portrait, product, food, editorial photography, and art direction, where communication with the client is essential to manage a proposal that aligns with the brand’s vision. Today, I own a commercial photography studio where I work on projects for clients. I handle everything from conceptualization to execution.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Here’s a solid and engaging response to that question:
I believe several factors have contributed to building my reputation within the market. Firstly, social media has played a crucial role in helping me connect with a wider audience and showcase my work. It allows me to share my creative vision and engage with potential clients and collaborators.
Additionally, I’ve never hesitated to seek advice and support from other professionals in the industry. Building relationships and learning from their experiences has been invaluable. I also make it a point not to judge myself harshly or compare my journey to others; instead, I focus on my unique path and growth. This mindset has helped me stay authentic and true to my creative vision, which resonates with my clients and sets me apart in a competitive field.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Maintaining strong relationships with clients and fostering brand loyalty is essential to my business. One fundamental principle I adhere to is that the customer is always right. By prioritizing their happiness and satisfaction, I ensure that they will return to me for future projects.
Professionalism and personalized service are also critical. I strive to adapt to my clients’ needs and provide tailored solutions that align with their vision. Acting as a channel to help them achieve their desired results not only strengthens our relationship but also builds trust and loyalty over time. Open communication and follow-up after projects further reinforce this bond, making clients feel valued and appreciated.
