We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alejandra Rosales. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alejandra below.
Hi Alejandra, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I think that my first answer would be what everyone says, “I love movies since I was a child, and good movies stick with you your whole life”. But after I came to LA to live my dream I really understood the big impact that movies have on people. Movies and TV Show have a big power, that people can sometimes take lightly. I feel like nobody believes in anything nowadays, not even rules, everyone makes their own rules or prefers to live without them. I think that faith has been lost and faith has many meanings, but in this case I am referring to the Catholic faith. I think that many people are drawn to Christianity and the Catholic faith because we follow God’s commandments. I would like to open people’s minds a little about what my religion really is and show them how beautiful it is to know Jesus. I would like you to see how young people today live their faith. My mission is to show how young people live their faith nowadays instead of looking at past stereotypes.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Alejandra Rosales, I’m from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. I’m 25 years old. I completed a bachelor’s degree in audiovisual communications in Mexico and a filmmaking certificate in Los Angeles.
At the moment I’ve been involved in several productions as producer and co producer. My job basically consists of being in charge of managing the budget, crew, contracts and other essential aspects to make sure the production goes smoothly. I’m very passionate about this as I am able to watch all the incredible work and effort everyone puts in over months. I love taking part in other parts of production as well, just like being unit production manager, here I have found it essential to be at your 100% since oftentimes the comfort of the cast and crew depends on you. Your mind and body are always at a 1000 miles and hour as you always need to find quick and good solutions to any problems that may arise during production. I love being in pre production…and as days go by I like to treat my fellow crew members with chocolates or candy to show my appreciation. These small actions can go a long way when your team feels loved and appreciated, and it encourages them to be motivated and in a better mood.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I believe as an artist you are able to express what you feel and show it to the world. This is an incredible experience as people can connect with you as they will relate their experiences to yours and feel like we’re all going through things together. At the end of the day we have all experienced a similar situation.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Communication is the key of have a good team, if you can talk to your people and tell them your needs or their mistakes, with respect, you can grow as a team. You can develop a working relationship to express their opinions, ideas and even their feelings, depending on the occasion. So I would say that communication, respect and attitude are the key.
On the other hand, maintaining morale is difficult, because everyone has an opinion about your ideas, but it is also about knowing how to listen but at the same time setting boundaries and continuing to believe.
