We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alejandra Gallegos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alejandra below.
Alejandra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The name of my clean cosmetic business is Positivity Beauty. I came up with this name because it represents two of my passions, positivity and beauty products. Seeing things in a positive way is an important part of who I am. I suffered of several types of abuse during my childhood and adolescence, and my ability and willingness to maintain a positive mindset helped me cope with trauma and transform the pain into optimism. Positivity has changed my life for the better, for that reason I do my best to inspire my customers to have a positive mindset.
Moreover, ever since I was a young girl, makeup was an important part of my personality. I started wearing light lip balm and eyelash gel mascara when I was 11 years old, and by age 13 I didn’t leave the house without almost a full face of makeup. I really enjoyed the boost of beauty and self-confidence wearing makeup made me feel. This is the exact same feeling I want my customers to experience when they wear my brand’s products.
I wanted to share part of my story and genuinely connect with my customers through my brand’s name, that’s how I came up with the name Positivity Beauty.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Alejandra Gallegos. I was born in Santa Ana, California US and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco MX. I came back to the US when I was 17 years old. In 2014, after overcoming challenges and barriers, I graduated from CSULB. I have a bachelor’s degree in Health Science with an emphasis in Community Health Education. In 2016 I became a Certified Health Education Specialist. Wellness has always been a passion of mine. In 2017 I started making natural facial soaps as a hobby. Feedback from family members and friends was positive. Realizing that my soaps were effective at cleansing and protecting the skin, I decided to open a clean beauty business, so I registered Positivity Beauty in 2022. Currently my business offers nourishing handmade facial soaps that offer skin cleansing, clarifying, and detoxifying benefits. In addition, my business offers organic plant-based makeup products such as lip glosses, compact powder blushes, and a multipurpose stick for lips, cheeks, and eyelids, that helps enhance people’s appearance in less than a minute. Besides its clean cosmetics, what makes my business special is the love and positive energy I send every single one of my customers and followers. Having a positive mindset has been vital in my life. For that reason, I do my very best to inspire my customers to find positivity in their lives through my brand’s name, vibe, and content.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
After graduating from college, I started working at an amazing well-known health service company. I worked as a Health Educator, facilitating chronic disease (diabetes, hypertension, etc.) prevention and management programs. I loved my job, especially interacting with my co-workers and the community. In 2018, after my second child was born, I decided to quit my job to spend more time taking care of my kids. My two kids had health and developmental conditions. They needed special care and therapies to become the best versions of themselves, so quitting my job was a good decision. I was grateful for the opportunity to be able to stay home and provide my kids with the time and care they needed. However, being a stay-at-home mom was physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially challenging. I was used to interacting with many people on a daily basis and earning my own money. Back then I felt like I had forgotten about myself and my goals as a woman. Thankfully, I was resilient, I knew that If I wasn’t satisfied with the life I was living I had the power to change it. I started reading personal growth and motivational books. In 2022 I decided to transform my hobby into a clean beauty business that I named Positivity Beauty. My business is still in the beginning stages; however, it has given me the opportunity to interact with like-minded people and find my tribe!

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
For me the most effective strategy for growing my clientele is to show my reality, which is often very similar to my customers’ reality. For example, most recently I shared a video of myself washing my face with my handmade soaps and showing my unglamorous face after just waking up. On this video I shared that, despite my better judgement, the night before making this video I was so tired that I just decided to go to sleep with my makeup on. When I recorded the video, I showed my dirty, oily, and dark-eyed face to show the before and after transformation my natural soap bars had made on my skin. Shortly after uploading this video, I started receiving messages of friends and followers letting me know that they liked it because it was relatable, and that the video had convinced them to visit my website and purchase some facial soap bars.
In conclusion, being real and authentic, and solving a problem my customers struggle with has helped me grow my clientele. Most importantly, it has helped me connect and develop a genuine bond with the vast majority of my customers.
