We were lucky to catch up with Alejandra Barrios recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alejandra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
My very first client came from a friend that I have known since high school! We had classes together and were friends on social media. After high school, we lived our lives but were still friends online. Once I got my real estate license, I started to promote myself and my business. After a couple of months, she reached out and said she wanted to start looking but did not know where or how to start. We caught up, she got pre-approved, and we started house hunting! It was a seamless process, and we are even better friends now!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I got into the real estate business because my dad works in remodeling. Whenever my dad needed help at his job sites, I would go with him. I learned so much about remodeling and prepping for the job, but I never saw what happened afterwards to the home. So, with the support of my loving parents, I set out to receive my real estate license. My two year anniversary will be in April 2023. I am a bilingual agent speaking both Spanish and English. I can close a real estate transaction in Spanish, and I have built my entire team around Spanish speakers. I have multiple loan officers, attorneys, and inspectors who all speak Spanish. I am extremely proud of all the work I have accomplished and hungry for more! My attention to detail, my ability to adapt, and my ability to negotiate have served me very well in my business. I love when I am underestimated!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started by posting what I feel comfortable with. I love supporting small businesses. So, I post my hair stylist when I get my hair done, where I stopped for lunch, or even my coffee! I’ve always been camera shy but I realized the only person losing is me. So, I forced myself to start posting relevant real estate content. Now, I have friends and acquaintances who really like the information I post. I realized that people are watching, taking all the advice I give, and applying it to their life. My advice: JUST DO IT! You will mess up, but keep going. Do what works for you and stick to it because what works for you may not work for someone else. Someone is rooting for you in silence!
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I definitely think when you are a good person all around in every season of your life, good things follow you. People from middle school remember you because you let them borrow a pencil. You gave a classmate a ride from after school, etc. Whatever you did, people remember and associate you with that scenario. Being a good person can and will bring so much to your life. I stay in touch by social media, supporting small businesses, and being genuinely interested in what they have to say because you never know how that person can impact you or your business.
