Alejandra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

As we move through this life, oftentimes we carry our experiences with the world with us. However, far too many of us are not vigilant enough in assessing the risks that this can pose on our personal development and overall wellbeing. As humans, we tend to fixate more on the negative circumstances we have encountered than our positive. It’s easy to justify this growing pain over time, and I found that we are often rewarded for our self neglect. For me, I found the journey within one of the most daunting, yet uplifting. It’s a risk to dive deep into yourself because we are never truly prepared for the person we will discover at the core of our being. And to get there requires reliving many of the hardships and tribulations that obstructed us from our essence. It’s painful and can consume all the pleasures in the day to day if we do not equip ourselves with the proper support system, habits, and lifestyle.

Alejandra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Mexican- American neo soul, R&B singer, Alejandra, is the manifestation of a woman slowly loosening her grip on the need to fit herself in an archetype, and rather, welcoming the uncertainty of limbo, one of the most liberating places that promises a home unique to the individual. Her music defies all cultural binaries by infusing soulful rhythmic melodies with Spanglish lyrics to express the beauty and struggle rested within the duality of identity. Alejandra’s earthy expressiveness and silky sensual vocals set her apart from the typical genres found in her Latin roots. Yet, this doesn’t intimidate the artist from setting the stage up for a new era of creating music that combines elements of Hip-Hop, Jazz, R&B, and Shoegaze with rhythmic influences heavily favored in Latin music. The singer pulls from several vocal influences, such as Kali Uchis, Sade, Girl Ultra, SZA, and Selena, to name a few.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My mission with my music has always been to provide a safe space for individuals to explore the complexities in their identity, in the hopes that it bridges the gaps between communities. My music forces mindfulness, it pierces through with the space that it offers in every song. I have always had the dream of elevating our global consciousness through the creation and delivery of messages that speak to a person’s soul. In order for us to heal as a world we must achieve harmony. And in order to achieve harmony, we must understand the fundamental similarities that connect our souls together. I find that entertainment, specifically music, has always had a way of intuitively eliminating tension and closing the gaps between us as people. I aim to leverage the power of music and art to speak truths about the world and the people within it so that we can all have an equal chance at healing.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)

NFT’s are the key to liberating the modern creative. This technology is novel in its abilities to provide a sustainable source of income for artists to scale their craft, while also driving the creation of communities within an artist’s catalog. NFT’s are one of the most powerful threats to the existing institutions that influence the success of a creator, and I am deeply looking forward to the mass adoption of this technology. We can all win with this technology!
