We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aleisha Stingley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Aleisha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I started my business at the beginning of the pandemic mostly out of boredom but I also saw how people’s jobs were being affected and I knew I wanted a back up plan. Ever since I was little I’ve been obsessed with having the latest electronics. I was always good with computers also. My cousin used to jokingly call my bedroom Circuit City because of all my gadgets! So, I bought a Cricut and started making cake toppers and custom wine glasses and tumblers. Once I got really good, I expanded to custom centerpieces, wrapped treats, etc. Eventually I got into laser cutting and purchased a Glowforge machine and that really took things to the next level since I was able to engrave and cut wood and acrylic. Now, I am shifting to making props for events and I am so excited to see where that takes me. I get to do what I love which is make cool stuff on the computer then I get to see it come to life!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Aleisha. Owner of A. Janee’ Studios where we offer acrylic, wood, and vinyl customizations. I make all things in house and I take pride in personalizing my products to fit my customers needs. I am now expanding to larger props such as wood backdrops/arches etc. so I am excited to see these things come to life and provide a special touch to all events that I am apart of.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Word of mouth for sure! I am so thankful for my customers because they brag on me and it feels so good. Most of my clientele is because of this. Ads are also a great tool!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I initially just reached out to my network and asked if they could support me by following my page and telling a friend to do the same. Once I started generating orders from my network, I invested in Ads and that gained the attention of a new audience. So, I would recommend investing in Ads and show off your best work in that moment!
