We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alecia Colvard. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alecia below.
Alecia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for my business while speaking with a close group of women who have all had recent awakenings. It was an idea that just flowed right through me and I started seeing puzzle pieces everyone and was really connecting in to how we all are connected in a similar way and that we all hold such beautiful individual characteristics but we are also so divinely connected as one. I really just wanted to “mirror that inner peace” through my jewelry and to expand with new available options in the future. So the first piece I created was my hanging puzzle piece mirror jewelry for your car mirror as a daily reminder at how beautiful you are and how no one is ever really alone in this life and experience. There hasn’t really been anything to reflect what we go through when we have an awakening and how beautiful it is on the other side of it.
My soul really just wanted to capture that feeling and share it with everyone.

Alecia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have always been an Artist. I love to paint, draw, write, color, just create from the heart. I feel that the creations I make connect people in a way others sometimes don’t. I’ve created my own brand. I make everything by hand. The wood beads I burn myself on each IYKYK (If you know you know) bracelet. Everything is very unique and individualized and no one piece ever completely matches another.
I am absolutely proud of everything I have accomplished so far and I’m so thankful for the support I have gotten.
I just had a download one day for the idea and got to work and made it a real thing. It just felt right.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I feel like a lot of lessons had to be unlearned on this journey. I had to unlearn worrying what people would think or whether my creations would would be “liked enough”. Basically retraining my brain that I AM successful and I create beautiful things and people will connect with those things. I am an artist and I am an entrepreneur because I want to be, not because someone else says I am but because I say I am.
Doing what you love and knowing that you are successful in what you do makes such a difference. Just being yourself and letting you shine through in things is that you create.
I guess the lesson to learn after unlearning all that is to always be Unapologetically Authentic.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
It’s hard sometimes when you start out. You have 0 views 0 buys 0 likes. You have to keep trying. Keep creating and keep marketing and the right people will find you. Keep doing the things you love and keep being yourself. Success comes in knowing your strengths and authenticity.
