We recently connected with Alec Rosinski and have shared our conversation below.
Alec, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
In high school, the members of Echidna Cone Productions took a video production course at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center. Our teacher, Anthony Hooper, was the most instrumental spark to our journey as filmmakers. He genuinely seemed to enjoy the videos we made, and pushed us to explore our most absurd ideas. It may not seem like a big deal, but to a young person trying to seriously pursue a career path as uncertain as filmmaking, having an adult that truly believes in the work you’re doing can make all the difference in the world. In almost all of our videos, we give Mr. Hooper a “Special Thanks” credit to commemorate his tireless support and guidance over the years.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Echidna Cone Productions is a video production company and Youtube Channel originally based in Westminster Maryland. Our bread and butter has always been surreal comedic short films and sketches, but we also have years of experience filming and editing weddings, music videos, television and web commercials, social media promotional content and other live event coverage. We’ve been freelancing for almost a decade and have experience in all areas of the production process. We always strive to communicate with our clients to make sure the end product fits their vision. We source our own equipment, and have a habit of quick turn arounds for high quality videos. No matter the format, we at Echidna Cone Productions will take your project seriously and do everything we can to turn your ideas into a reality. Currently, Echidna Cone is in the development stages for their first ever feature film, “The Luckiest Fool on Earth,” a movie about flagpole sitting.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
With social media, persistence is key. People aren’t going to want to watch your stuff if they don’t know about it! You have to make your social media line up tonally with the videos that you’re producing. In our case, most of our videos are cartoonish or silly, so we have a comedic social media presence to reflect that. Something that really increases views is to do “release events” for videos. For example, if you have a backlog of five videos, release one a day during a week at the same time each day, and then put the releases together under a theme. This builds hype and gets the audience more involved with the releases.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
For our creative works, our main goal has always just been to make people laugh. We like to derive humor from showing people an exaggerated version of the lives they live. If you look closely, and really examine the idiosyncrasies of everyday life, there are endless absurdities, contradictions and humor to be found.
