My mission as a makeup artist is deeply rooted in the belief that everyone deserves to feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. When someone sits in my chair, it’s not just about applying makeup; it’s about enhancing their unique features and helping them feel like the best version of themselves. Beauty goes beyond just appearance—it’s about empowerment, and I want my clients to leave feeling more confident and ready to take on the world. This mission is personal to me because I’ve seen firsthand how a little boost of confidence can change someone’s day, and it’s incredibly rewarding to be part of that transformation, no matter how big or small.

My name is Alec, but I go by Sinjin, which not only sets me apart with a unique and memorable name but also reflects my personal connection to my work. My journey into makeup artistry began with my eyelash business. While marketing my products, I noticed that the looks of the models didn’t always align, so I took it upon myself to build a makeup kit and start doing the makeup for the shoots. What started as a necessity soon turned into a passion, as I realized how much I loved transforming people and boosting their confidence through makeup. What sets me apart is my approach to enhancing each individual’s natural beauty. I specialize in creating looks that are fully blended, allowing the makeup to feel like second skin, even when I’m doing a full glam. I’m proud of my ability to make my clients feel like the best version of themselves, no matter the occasion. I’ve always had a deep love for makeup, creating extravagant editorial looks on myself, which eventually led people to trust me with their more everyday, wearable styles. What I want potential clients to know is that I’m not just here to create a look—I’m here to empower and help them feel their most confident and beautiful.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy I’ve used to grow my clientele is building relationships and networking at various events. I’ve attended marketing events and even those hosted by other businesses, like law firms or MRI clinics, where I connect with people and offer my services for events or headshots. I always make sure to have business cards on hand, so whenever there’s an opportunity, I let people know I can help with their glam needs. Additionally, because I wear makeup every day, I use myself as a walking advertisement. Whenever I receive compliments on my makeup, I make sure to mention that I’m a makeup artist and share my business card. It’s all about staying visible, approachable, and making sure people know what I can offer.

Building a business in a competitive field like makeup artistry is never easy, and there have definitely been moments that tested my resilience. There are so many talented artists out there, and it can be overwhelming at times, but I’ve learned that each makeup artist has their own unique style, and that’s what draws clients in. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is staying consistent and visible—constantly showcasing my work through both photos and videos so potential clients can see my skills. It’s all about letting people know that I can meet their needs, and making sure I don’t get lost in the sea of incredible artists. The industry can be tough, but I’ve learned that persistence and consistency are key. As long as I stay reliable, keep working hard, and continue putting my best foot forward, the results will follow, because the quality of my work speaks for itself.
