We were lucky to catch up with Aleana & Greg Conroy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Aleana & Greg thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Who starts an event company during a pandemic? We took a risk and are incredibly happy we did. My husband and I both worked in the event industry for our 8-5 jobs and large gathering events were among the first to shut during the pandemic. Greg eventually got furloughed and although I did not, events at the facility I was at all stopped. Nervous with a toddler on our hands my husband knew how much I enjoyed planning and creating my daughters birthday and he told me “do it, do this”. I told him there was no way with our jobs and our daughter. He said, you love it – I will build and you design, so we took a chance and never looked back.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We are a husband and wife duo both coming from a strong event background. I design and plan all of the events, and he builds them. Our events are very unique, we don’t just plan an event we tell a story. If you are looking for an easy party set up, that is not us. If you are looking for a one of a kind experience that is us. We are so proud of what we have accomplished in so little time, doing what you love never feels like a job. Seeing our clients faces when they walk into their event is the moment we live for.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
There are two rewarding aspects of being a creative, 1. being the reaction from our clients when they step into their event like we mentioned. The look on their face and how they step into another world is the most incredible feeling. 2. Our daughter gets to see our work and gets so excited, we have been fortunate enough to be on a television show and she watches it and starts clapping. In school she told her teacher when she grows up she wants to be a party planner. It was everything.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think our attention to detail and hoping viewers look at our work and say “wow”. Being on MTV most definitely helped build our reputation to another level.
