We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aleah Hosea. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aleah below.
Alright, Aleah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
I worked at a Restaurant in Montgomery AL, called Wishbone Cafe the owner Paul Dallas gave me an opportunity to show case my art on the walls of restaurant. My first client was a local who visited the restaurant and was just in aw of one of my paintings. I felt so blessed, humble and excited that someone seen beauty in my art and understood what was delivered!
Aleah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For folks who may not have read about me before, my name is Aleah Hosea better known as “Lollicakes”. Lollicakes came from my mother she use to call me that. I turned Lollicakes into a business “Lollicakes Famous Custom Designs” My business industry is fashion/wearable art and arts & crafts. I’ve painted portraits for Jennifer Williams, Hoopz from Flavor of Love, Lloyd, Omarion. I’ve also customized a pair of sneakers for the CEO of Amazon Andy Jassy, customized a jean jacket for Soulja Boy and Ludacris. How I got into art/fashion started back when I was a child when I drew my first igloo with a pink crayon lol my grandmother still has it to this day in a picture book. As I developed into a big kid my interest for more advance drawing like Spongebob, Tweety Bird, Tom and Jerry etc. I practice so much on perfecting those characters my peers were interested in me drawing those characters on there arms and legs like tattoos! My interest wasn’t into drawing on folks. It wasn’t until I was an adult when I purchased my first canvas, before then most of my paintings were on wood and just paper. I had the opportunity to show case my art work in Wishbone Cafe which grew my clients and confidence. The locals drew interests in my original art work so much that Montgomery Advertising shared the experience in the news!
When clients want something different they can’t purchase from the store whether its a gift or personal item they contact me because they know for a fact that I’m bring something unique to the table.
What im most proud is my determination to get things done even when folks tell me no. If a person has a goal and they are truly passionate to achieve the goal no isn’t an option.
What I want to tell my potential clients is to work with me you won’t be disappointed and you’ll be rocking the flyest gear or giving someone the best gift!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
How I built my audience on social media was from word of mouth and posting content.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
