We recently connected with Alea O’shea and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Alea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I believe anyone who pursues a creative career is inherently a risk taker. There are no rulebooks, no set path to success, and it often comes with uncertainty. It can feel isolating at times, but also incredibly rewarding.
When I graduated high school and moved halfway across the world to pursue acting, I didn’t hesitate for a second.
I spent 3.5 years in Vancouver, Canada. I secured an agent, worked on exciting projects, and built an invaluable network of connections. But alongside those accomplishments came side hustles, homesickness, and the persistent question: “Am I ever going to make it?”
Eight months ago, after years of that cycle, I had a reality check. I realized I was living for other people’s dreams, not my own. I decided it was time to bet on myself and the creative potential I knew I had.
I had been editing videos since high school and working with various brands over the last four years, but I had bigger aspirations. I had ideas that no one else seemed to be exploring—concepts that could transform the way brands engage with content creators. The challenge was that I didn’t know how to bring these ideas to life. But I knew I had to try.
I committed to self-teaching. After three months of learning new techniques, I quit my side job in May and fully dived into content creation, alongside auditioning.
Since then, I’ve worked with over 20 brands, including Under Armour, LinkTree, and Rimmel London. I’ve been flown internationally for events, and I’ll be working on a feature film next month. This year, I’ve also earned more than I ever have in my life.
It’s wild how many opportunities open up when you take a leap of faith. Change can be terrifying, but the thought of staying stuck and wasting your potential is far scarier—at least in my opinion.

Alea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m an actress and content creator with over 10 years of experience in the industry.
My journey began as an outgoing child, following in my brother’s footsteps by joining an agency. After just three commercials, I landed my first breakthrough role as Darcy on the hit drama Home and Away. Initially signed on for three months, my role was extended for three years, and that’s where my love for acting truly began.
Having grown up dancing, I was no stranger to performing, and since then, I’ve secured representation in Australia, Canada, and the U.S. I’ve worked on various productions for notable networks like The CW, Paramount, and Hallmark. My next project is a feature film titled Memento Mori by Anthony Meindl, set to premiere next year.
In addition to acting, I’ve been creating content for the last few years, but it wasn’t until this year that I fully committed to it. I thrive on receiving a brand’s brief and coming up with unique, creative ways to bring their vision to life. I’m not interested in cookie-cutter content—I’m inspired by pushing boundaries and creating something fresh and different.
This year, I’ve led two major campaigns with Under Armour and Rimmel London, among many other brands, and I’m excited for what’s to come.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I’ve always felt things deeply, and without a creative outlet, those emotions can be overwhelming. I think that’s why I’m involved in so many different creative endeavors.
My goal is to make people feel what I feel—or what I want them to feel—when they experience my work. You know that moment when you hear a piece of music, and it just gets you? That’s what I’m striving to create, whether through an acting performance or a visual piece.
Ultimately, that’s my biggest goal.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’ve gone through so many phases with social media—loving it, hating it, chasing the algorithm for followers, and at times, avoiding it completely.
It wasn’t until this year that I found my sweet spot: sharing content I genuinely care about. Instagram has become like a visual mood board and digital resume for me. Now, when I look at my page, I know everything I post is 100% what I want to share—not because of trends or societal pressure.
Of course, you still have to play the game; that’s the reality. But my advice is to find a way to play that feels authentic to you. Create content you actually enjoy, and others will enjoy it too. Your audience will find you. If you keep chasing different trends, aesthetics, and vibes, you lose the one power you have:
Yourself.
