We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ale Aguilar . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ale below.
Ale , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I’ve always loved to do my own makeup and watching YouTube tutorials I would practice on myself, I spent hours trying to recreate a look I would see. Persistent and not giving up was most essential in achieving the look. When I started doing makeup on family and friends I felt so proud of my work, the only obstacle was myself not believe in my self and turning this into a career sooner.
Ale , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Ale AleAGlam on instagram I am a Makeup artist in the DFW area I specialize in bridal glam, I started my makeup journey 6 yrs ago when I would volunteer in a ministry called Embrace Grace I didn’t know much about makeup, but after their semester is done a princess day is given to these brave girls and makeup was included, I began doing what I had learned from watching YouTube and what I would practice on myself, I began to get booked from friends and family and would just work from home, 2023 has been an amazing year Voyage Dallas named me “rising star” in their February issue, and from there I started reaching out to other makeup artist, hair stylists that have helped me and kept me busy, honored to have gotten an opportunity to grow with them. I’m most proud of being a small part on someone big day like their wedding day. Achieving a brides vision on how they always dreamed to look like on their big day. My mission is for future brides to feel comfortable with me from the minute we connect to save their date to the actual wedding day, I want to become a well known makeup artist and let my work speak for itself. My faith and love for my family are the core values of my work and my motivation to continue growing.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
There’s never going to be a perfect time to start. START NOW!!
I would always doubt myself, I didn’t think I was good enough for brides I just didn’t know and was scared to start and expand myself to a different world.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Posting your work and staying consistent. Joining local groups and offering your services. There will always be that one person that your portfolio and your style suits them.
