We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aldyn Richmond a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aldyn, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
My journey as an artist has always been deeply intuitive, though I didn’t have the language for that at first. It really started to emerge when I was working with ceramics—before my work became consistently abstract. Even then, there was always some deeper experience I felt compelled to express. I was tuned into things I didn’t understand yet—music, vibration, even subtle frequencies in flowers. Later I learned that what I was experiencing was synesthesia.
At the time, especially in college, I felt self-conscious and even a bit pretentious trying to explain what inspired me. The UC Berkeley art department was alternative and edgy, but there was also this invisible pressure to conform your creativity into something that could be neatly categorized or intellectualized. Still, I was fascinated by the artist’s journey—the courage it takes to share something personal and true. Artists like Eva Hesse left a lasting impression on me. Despite her personal tragedy, she dared to express something she felt deeply, and that moved me. I began to recognize that, whether or not I gained recognition, I was on my own path—and learning to be unapologetic about that has been part of my liberation.
Honestly, what would have sped up my learning process is recognizing and embracing my neurodivergence much earlier. I knew I was gifted from a young age, but only recently learned that giftedness is actually a neurodivergence. When you add that to being an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) and experiencing synesthesia—which I’ve only had the language for in the past few years—it all started to make much more sense. For a long time, I downplayed or shut those parts of myself down because they felt distracting or hard to explain. But sometimes, what you suppress is your greatest gift. That’s the real tragedy in today’s world: being conditioned to believe that who you are is unacceptable. I admire anyone who has the courage and purity of heart to abandon that mask and live as their true self. The sooner you can begin to fully meet and choose yourself, the better for your creative endeavors.
One of the most essential skills in my creative practice has been developing my Intuition. I’m also a psychic, and when creativity and Intuition meet, there is a magnetic quality to your being and what you do.
Although I’ve never considered myself someone who goes out of her way to fit in, I think a big obstacle for me is the sadness I felt realizing how much energy I had unbeknownst to me put into shutting down my natural design. I can’t even give a good explanation for it, other than that gradual wearing away you feel of life force wherever you haven’t fully met and chosen yourself yet. I do believe everyone is creative in their own right, and I hope this encourages anyone reading to say yes to their authentic self.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Honestly, I’ve taken the scenic route when it comes to building a creative life. I’ve always been an artist, but over the years I’ve also become an art educator, event host, intuitive, and certified Ascension Coach. All of it flows from the same source: a deep love for expression, growth, and helping others reconnect with their own creativity.
I studied Art at UC Berkeley and completed my K–12 teacher training at San Francisco State. Since then, I’ve taught for over 15 years—offering private lessons, youth programs, online and in-person workshops, and art events for everything from paint and sip nights to corporate retreats. I love creating welcoming, empowering spaces where people can slow down, explore their inner world, and make something meaningful (and beautiful!) in the process.
Alongside art, I’ve spent years studying holistic healing and the mind-body connection—including certification in clinical herbalism, studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine and medical astrology, and completing a Hatha yoga and meditation teacher training in India. These practices continue to shape the way I hold space for others—combining creativity, embodiment, and emotional clarity in everything I do.
In my personal practice, I offer original artwork and Psychic Art Readings, as well as 1:1 and group Ascension Coaching. My intuitive sessions often support clients on healing journeys, including those navigating the Twin Flame path. Whether through art or coaching, I help people understand the deeper energetic and emotional patterns at play in their lives—and begin to shift them in a real, grounded way. Even for those who don’t identify as spiritual, this work often resonates on a deep and surprising level.
What sets my work apart is that it’s not about surface-level outcomes—it’s about helping people access something real. I meet people where they are, whether they’re a beginner picking up a paintbrush for the first time, or someone who’s been on a long journey of self-discovery. I help them trust their instincts, follow their inspiration, and uncover more of who they really are.
I’m proud of the depth and care I bring to everything I offer—from art mentorship and intuitive commissions to coaching and creative events. At the end of the day, my work isn’t just about art or insight—it’s about creating space for people to feel more at home in themselves.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. At the core of my work is the belief that art carries spiritual energy. Whether I’m creating my own pieces or guiding others, I see art as a way to connect with something deeper—beyond words, beyond logic.
My mission is to help people reconnect with their intuition through creativity. Intuition is a key part of self-realization, and when we create from that space, we access healing, clarity, and deeper truth.
In my own art, I work to channel what comes from the superconscious—what exists beyond the mind and emotions. The energy or presence I’m connecting with often reveals itself through color, movement, and form, and emotion naturally flows from there. My process is intentional, intuitive, and rooted in something greater than myself. Whether through a painting, a lesson, or a reading, I aim to open space for others to experience that same depth—to the extent they’re willing to meet themselves there.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
One experience that’s shaped my entrepreneurial mindset the most is the Life Purpose Class by Jeff and Shaleia. It helped me see that building a business or creative career isn’t just about strategy—it’s about alignment. When you’re deeply connected to who you are and why you’re here, the work becomes more meaningful, and the results follow from that clarity. That teaching affirmed something I already felt but hadn’t fully understood: your life purpose is not separate from your healing. The more you choose authenticity, the more success begins to take root in ways that are sustainable and real.
Another foundational moment for me came in a psychology class where we studied biofeedback. Seeing measurable proof that the mind could influence the body—heart rate, temperature, pain—was a powerful wake-up call. It confirmed that the energy we hold, the thoughts we repeat, and the level of self-trust we build have a direct impact on our results. That’s why I see every bit of inner work—especially the work of being true to yourself—as an investment in your creative and professional success.
I don’t always follow traditional models of business, but I’ve learned that presence, intention, and emotional integrity go a long way. When you’re aligned with your purpose, things begin to organize around you in unexpected and often beautiful ways.
