We recently connected with Aldora Neal and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Aldora thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Saying yes to going on tour.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello! My name is Aldora Neal and I’m an organized creative. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY I started dancing at 8 y.o. at Boys and Girls Harbor conservatory in Spanish Harlem and my mom put me in to acting lessons at 9 y.o. to help with my speech and shyness. I continued to perform and one day in high school a friend asked me to Stage Manage his play. I googled what a Stage Manager does and figured it’s natural to what I already do with my friends for group events, so why not. I went to SUNY Purchase and received a BA in Stage Management. After graduating I would travel to New Jersey for Dance rehearsals and permeances with Project D Dance Company and back to New York for Broadway rehearsals & shows. In 2021 I joined the Hamilton: An American Musical (Philip) Tour and now I’m the Assistant Stage Manager at Hadestown (Broadway).
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
There are things in life you are talented at and things you are passionate about. The talent can open doors for you, but the passion needs to be fed. That’s the duality of me and I am still figuring out how to do both.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My purpose in life is to bring people together through music, good company, and the arts. That’s why Hiphop is so important to me.
