We were lucky to catch up with Aldo Arechar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Aldo, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I just turned 30 years old and I am living as a full time composer in Mexico City and there was an itch I couldn’t scratch, my internal kid was pushing me to take the risk to sell the car, and everything I had to pursue a career in Los Angeles. I had some friends, not. many that I could see and visit, but not a great jump start for a career.
Little did I know that that decision took me to an insane ride that involved me working in the biggest movies in the world as an assistant which was incredibly out of reach to me. So far I worked in Dune, The Lion King, The Last Of Us, Top Gun: Maverick and many others.
Really taking a chance in yourself can feel like the biggest gamble, and believe it (it is). But there might be a world were you h aven’t even dreamed of.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The collaborations. I can’t stress enough how much artists benefit from having other artists near them. In my case, when I’m composing music for a film I might be too close to the project but when I hire musicians that have spent almost their. entire life dedicating it to a musical instrument magic happens. The creative loop fires up and ideas that I could have not even imagine start popping out from nowhere just because of the musicians being so inspiring. So, surround yourself with artists, your art will be benefited from them and yours to them.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Mastery by Robert Greene. It dives into examples of great people and it’s so interesting because sometimes we think we have a specific way to do things, and it was very enlightening to see how many many other people have done what you probably are doing at the moment and it’s inspiring to know about other successful peoples processes.,
