Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Albert Nolaj. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Albert, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
This is one of the best gifts ever given to me, especially from above. I never received professional training until I realized I was given this gift for a reason– it felt like a was a mission I needed to complete while on Earth. Although I was always involved in the music world, my insecurities kept me from fully expressing my singing side. If I had committed to singing earlier, it might have sped up the process, but I believe in the importance of timing.
I started singing professionally in 2017 when I participated in ‘The Voice,’ and I saw how everything fell into place for me at that point. After that, I started working with a couple vocal coaches to stay in shape. Singing on such a big stage, as opposed to just in my room, was a significant leap that allowed me to view my career through a different lens.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, beautiful people! My name is Albert Nolaj, and I am based in NYC. As I mentioned earlier, my first step onto a real stage was participating in The Voice. Before that, I was only singing in my bathroom. The leap from using a wooden spoon as a mic to performing on a real stage was tremendous. I met people who were in the same shoes as me, which helped me navigate everything that was happening around me. It felt like waking up to a dream– rehearsing with the band every day, thinking about outfits, and being interviewed on TV was surreal.
But being blinded by those huge stage lights snapped me into reality– I thought to myself: I could actually do this! Being up there made me forget everything that was holding me down– the crowd, judges, camera pressure, even the deepest problems of my life disappeared once the microphone was on and I was in my moment. This helped me overcome stage fright. I always say that singing, to me, is like meditating; everything becomes so easy and beautiful.
I am very happy with my decisions so far. “Face your fears” is a quote I live by, and it helped me realize I wanted to take this career seriously. After that, I released my first song, “Ain’t Nobody (Better Than You)” in 2021, and it felt like a full-circle moment. I always call that my first baby to see the light. Currently, I am working on my first album, and another song from the album is called “Crossroad” and will be released on June 21st on all platforms. There will also be a lyric video on YouTube on my channel. After working on this song for so long, I am really happy to share it with everyone.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect comes from that moment when my head is spinning with ideas to seeing them fully produced and shaped. That’s when I truly feel the dopamine. The entire process, from early ideas to the final production, is incredibly gratifying. It’s like the relief you feel when you finally tell someone something important you’ve been holding in. After pouring everything onto paper and seeing it come to life, the sense of accomplishment is immense. Moreover, sharing it with the world and having someone else relate to that exact story is incomparable.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
You just reminded me of a little story. There was a period in my life when I had no contact with music in any form. I went nearly a year without being creative, and honestly, my brain was overflowing with ideas. It was a bit overwhelming because songwriting is where I unload all those thoughts, and during this time I wasn’t doing it, I felt a real heaviness inside. I didn’t understand why my anxiety was so high or why I had lost excitement for everything until I had my first moment back. Translating my craft from paper into music brought a sense of ease within me, reminding me why I make music. It almost feels selfish not to create and share it with the world because it truly feels like a mission placed in my hands for a reason. So, it is a way for me to channel my emotions, find balance, and do what I think I was called to do in my life.
