Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alanna Faby. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alanna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar you earn in a new endeavor is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
My first film project that I worked on was for a student film from the Savannah College of Art and Design. We were total strangers, but I was connected with him through a friend of mine from school. In the film and animation industry, it really helps to know someone to pick up job opportunities. I was extremely excited because this was a project that involved integrating live action and 2D animation! While I learned mostly 3D art, I also enjoy making 2D art and animation. Working on this project was super special to me, and I had a blast being a part of it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Alanna Faby, and I am a 2D/3D Artist. I got into the film and animation industry through my love for creating stories and visuals for audiences to experience. I received my Bachelors in Animation and Digital Arts at Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture Arts in 2023. Some of my services include 3D modeling, texturing, 2D animation, character design, and concept art.
I am most proud of the student film I worked on. I had the opportunity to work with amazing SCAD students (now graduated) and we created something fun and amazing. Throughout the whole process, I felt the passion and drive from the director, which helped me explore through the designs and animation, bringing the film to life.
My goal for projects is to create films and games for everyone to enjoy, and to feel the joy and excitement throughout the creative process. I want to work with you to bring your vision to life, and feel amazing about it.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Personally, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is being able to deliver a product or result that speaks to not only the client, but to audiences as well. When we watch movies, we are constantly trying to seek any form of connection, and as creatives, we try to build that connection through the medium we practice. Clients and creatives also develop that connection to their work as well. When I work with clients, I love building that connection with them through art and filmmaking. The feeling of excitement when we know that a certain idea will work is a special experience.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My story is still ongoing, but progressing at a good pace. A few days before graduating from Florida State University, the film and animation industry was hit with a writer’s strike, putting the whole industry on hold for six months. What happened for my entire class was a perfect storm, and no one was hiring. Luckily, this was an opportunity for me to save up some money in case I had to move for any potential jobs in the future, as well as work on my portfolio. I managed to get some freelance gigs while working part time at Costco, but no secure full time job. However, I refuse to give up in finding my spot in the world.
