We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alanee Ngala. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alanee below.
Hi Alanee, thanks for joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
August 2020 was the first time I ever invested in my first eyelash course and I was lost! I was becoming a senior in high school so I had college, exams, prom and other stuff to stress about. I ended up feeling like the lash business was over saturated and not for me at the time, which was a bad idea. I feel as though if I started sooner I’d be way more experienced and where I’d want to be in my business now. But, instead of dwelling on not starting sooner. I enjoy thé little learning moments by the day now. I would change not taking the risk sooner than later.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
During my teen years, I’ve always heard- and still hear how long and natural my eyelashes are. At first I never knew how short, curly, long, or straight others lash curl patterns could be. I came across someone on Instagram back in 2018 who did the most beautiful natural classic extensions so the idea came to my mind! I provide a eyelash extension service that beautifies any client coming to my chair with a satisfied everyday look. Many women don’t know what curl, length, and overall look best matches them and I’m always here to solve that problem! I also give tips and tricks to help better retention. What sets me apart is easily my range of lash sets. From hybrid, to wispy, volume and mega volume, I can do it all! I’m most proud of my ability to keep going and staying creative no matter what. My brand isa reflection of me! Exuberant, private, and edgy.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Back in 2022 around June, I was introduced with the idea of a close friend of mine to share a new suite. We were both excited as this was my first one and her next better one. We signed contracts and began working under our old hairstylist who we knew, business wise, for about a year and a half. Sadly, in November there was a grand opening which ended up being an epic fail. It got pretty violent as the owners were in the wrong. We were locked out of our things for a few days which resulted in lost clients and all! Having to go back to the basics, I realized it was a blessing in disguise all along! It didn’t stop my business if anything it got even better. My resilience through the whole experience made me realize many things I’ll never forget.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
By having loyal take home cards. Each time a client comes back, they’re stamped with a punch that has my signature. At the end of about 5/6 punches, there’s a little treat for your current visit! Whether that be 10-20% off, free fill ins, it depends! It’s important to keep your clients invested and wanting to come back for more!
