We were lucky to catch up with Alan Warner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One deeply underappreciated facet of being an entrepreneur or creative is the kind of crazy stuff that happens from time to time. It could be anything from a disgruntled client attacking an employee or waking up to find out a celebrity gave you a shoutout on TikTok – the sudden, unexpected hits (both positive and negative) make the profession both exhilarating and exhausting. Can you share one of your craziest stories?
Katie Leigh from the Muppet Babies have said has said in regards to the title “Aren’t you clever?”
The Midland Daily News has called me a pioneer, a trendsetter. But not in regards to this podcast. But it’s all good.
What else? Oh, Ginny Hogan, listed as a Forbes Rising Satire Star has given the podcast a five-star review, and the podcast continues to hold a five-star review. So that means it’s excellent.
And it is.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
It started out with me having the best idea that I’ve ever had. What if I took the book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” and changed the word Wizard in every case to the word Lizard.
Excellent.
Now, the crazy part is that I did a quick “search and replace” in a text document and then printed it out.
No one was that particularly interested in reading it.
So I read it. I read it out loud, the first chapter. And then I got some feedback.
And one suggestion was to make it a podcast, and that is how the Wonderful Lizard was born.
Perhaps, though, the crazy story is that The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was ever published.
It’s a terrible book.
What sets me apart from others?
Um. I’ve read a book.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative?
Uh, it’s just you being yourself and people have to deal with it. Okay. Yeah.
That’s a good answer.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Oh, share a story from earlier that illustrates your resilience:
Welp, the podcast is still going.
Even though it doesn’t make any money. It is hemorrhaging cash.
