Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alaina Bader. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Alaina, thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
Running my business for three years, I have found genuine happiness as an artist. The world of floral design allows me to bring an artistic vision to life, transforming nature’s beauty into gorgeous pieces. Each day, I wake up with a sense of purpose, knowing that my passion fuels my work and enables me to express my creativity in a meaningful way for my clients.
The thought of returning to a “regular” job fills me with a sense of dread because it would mean abandoning the freedom I have grown accustomed to. Being my own boss has granted me the liberty to set my own schedule, take on projects that inspire me, and experiment with innovative designs without any constraints. I thrive on the ability to infuse my personal touch into every creation, allowing my artistry to flourish and evolve. The creative process stimulates my mind, driving me to constantly explore new techniques, colors, and textures that reflect my unique style.
My floral business has provided a level of fulfillment and connection that traditional jobs often lack. I have had the privilege of working closely with clients, collaborating on their visions, and crafting personalized arrangements that celebrate their most significant moments. Witnessing the sheer delight on their faces when they see my creations is an indescribable reward. Additionally, the sense of accomplishment that comes from building a successful business from scratch and the knowledge that your talent and hard work directly contribute to your own success is incredibly empowering.
Alaina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a 25-year-old floral designer, I’m thrilled to share my story with your readers. My journey into the world of floral design began three years ago when I decided to pursue my passion for art and nature. Working in a floral shop for two years prior, I was captivated by the beauty of flowers and their ability to evoke emotions, and I wanted to channel that fascination into creating breathtaking arrangements for special occasions on my own.
When it comes to the products and services I provide, my main focus is on wedding flowers. I understand that weddings are one of the most significant and cherished moments in a couple’s life, and I strive to make their special day unforgettable through my floral creations.
One of the key problems I solve for my clients is transforming their wedding venues into dreamlike spaces that reflect their personalities. Through careful consultation and attention to detail, I work closely with the couple to understand their preferences, color schemes, and overall wedding theme. I believe in the power of flowers to tell a story, and I take pride in translating their love and emotions into exquisite floral arrangements that surpass their expectations.
What sets me apart from others in the industry is my commitment to personalized service and my ability to infuse each design with a touch of artistic flair (hence my motto – “Flowers that fit you”). I genuinely care about my clients and their desires, and I go the extra mile to ensure their satisfaction. Whether it’s sourcing rare blooms, incorporating meaningful elements into the arrangements, or providing expert guidance throughout the process, I strive to make the entire experience seamless, enjoyable, and unforgettable.
I am incredibly proud of the relationships I have built with my clients and the trust they place in me to bring their wedding visions to life. It is an honor to witness their joy and happiness when they see the finished floral arrangements on their big day. The positive feedback, glowing testimonials, and referrals from satisfied couples are a testament to the quality and care I put into my work.
To potential clients, followers, and friends, I want them to know that my brand represents a combination of creativity, passion, and dedication. I pour my heart and soul into every project, ensuring that each clients pieces are not just arrangements, but living works of art. I value the opportunity to be part of such meaningful occasions.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building a social media audience as a creative takes time, dedication, and a genuine passion for your craft. Focus on delivering quality content, engaging with your audience, and staying true to your artistic voice. Over time, your audience will grow, and you’ll have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and make a meaningful impact in your creative community.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Building your own business as an artist presents unique challenges compared to someone working in a non-creative field. As an artist, you not only face the typical obstacles of entrepreneurship, such as financial hurdles and establishing your own clientele, but you also deal with the subjective nature of your work and the need to continuously innovate and stand out, while non-creative businesses can rely on objective metrics for success. The path to establishing a successful artistic business demands perseverance, adaptability, and the ability to balance creative passion with practical considerations.
