Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alaina Albertson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alaina , appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
As a kid, from my very first memories. Since my very first memories- I have been a creator. If I am not busy using my creative mind, it’s humming in the background. I remember being in Elementary school and they asked us to write what we want to be when we grow up on a balloon- I wrote ‘Famous’. I came to realize, I never wanted to be famous but I was drawn to art, expression and elevated experiences. “Famous” in my little head just meant “be somebody”.
Alaina , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a multi-hyphenate. I am a Marketing & Social Media Director at Bowery Collective. I am also a playwright, director and actress.
Based in New York City, I am the Director of Marketing at Bowery Collective. My role encompasses digital, experiential and everything in between that connects Bowery Collective to its awesome customers. After receiving my Bachelor of Arts in theatre, I spent over a decade working at The Bowery Hotel where I met BOCO founder Walter and refined my talents in hospitality. My role at Bowery Collective combines my creativity and expertise in elevated guest experiences.
In my theatre career- I write and direct work that stings. I want to tell stories that matter and move you. I can turn an idea into an experience, a story into a staged production.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Authenticity. Today, there are so many apps, AI, templates, to create cool work. But followers connect with authenticity. We’d rather engage with a human than a robot. Keep the art in social media- don’t let computer kill this one last romance.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
The Artists Way has helped me stay grounded in my purpose. Remembering that being a creative is my strength and not “impractical”. It provides simple practices to support and stability to the creative mind.
