We were lucky to catch up with Alain Yaovi Dagba recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alain Yaovi, appreciate you joining us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
Yes, I find joy in my business. As a spiritual teacher, I have the privilege of connecting with individuals from diverse backgrounds—varying cultures, ethnicities, and professional fields.
My perspective on the world is multifaceted, shaped by the richness of insights gleaned from the diverse stories and lifestyles of the people I serve.
Through addressing the challenges people bring to me, I not only cultivate a compassionate heart but also nurture a heightened awareness. In my people-centric business, the profound strength of human connection, fueled by the sincerest intention to witness the blossoming of another’s joy, drives transformative change.
Returning to a conventional job has never enticed me. The mere thought at this moment feels stifling, akin to imprisonment. It would mean squandering my inherent value and severely limiting my potential. In every journey, there exists a point of no return, and I’ve firmly surpassed that threshold.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Many inquire about my journey to becoming a spiritual teacher, and my response is simple—it has to be a calling. Mine commenced at a tender age, even preceding my birth. In African culture, predictions about a child’s birth by a seer were not uncommon. My parents were told by a seer about my arrival into this world, along with the revelation of my destined path. Endowed with spiritual gifts, my teenage years proved challenging in navigating these profound abilities.
I used to be very shy and quiet because I saw the world in a unique way compared to my friends and school teachers. I could see things that others couldn’t, and giving intuitive advice to help people was normal for me. It all began at church and later expanded into a private community I founded.
After I prayed for people in the community, they started experiencing healing, and others had breakthroughs following my spiritual guidance. The calling demanded a lot of my time and energy. When I realized that people happily give money as a thank-you for services, I turned my work into a business. This way, I could support my family and help others in need.
My clients come from various backgrounds – business professionals, artists, couples seeking guidance, parents with child-related concerns, and individuals on a quest for purpose. I rely 100% on what I call divine inspiration in my work. For example: while I’m not a photographer, I coach photographers to unleash their talents more dynamically. The same goes for musicians, models, writers, and community leaders, singers, helping them discover their spiritual voice and channel lyrics. I’ve guided CEOs in redirecting their business energy. The point is, the possibilities are boundless when working with the Greater Mind, God
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I landed in the U.S. with only seventy-five cents and slept in a friend’s walking closet. From Omaha, Nebraska, to Boston, Massachusetts, I worked at two restaurants and took overnight shifts at the Westin Hotel, Copley Place. I even installed insulation with a construction company. These jobs taught me a lot about myself and my gifts. I worked hard to support my family in Africa. Eventually, my parents joined me in the U.S. to live with my wife and children. Working these jobs toughened me up, and when I started my own business, I faced financial challenges with resilience from what I have become working these jobs. I see resilience as more than just tenacity. It’s the courage to venture into the unknown, relying on hope as your inner strength. I’ve never sought a light at the end of the tunnel; I aimed to shine through the tunnel itself. To me, that’s what hope is. It’s not delusional; it’s practical and reassuring. This hope is embodied in the person you are becoming.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
The greatest blessing in my business was supporting my wife through her past trauma of sexual abuse. From that challenging experience, we birthed a groundbreaking spiritual curriculum— the Soul Journey Spiritual Academy. Together, we created an online academy that empowers people to master their minds, emotions, choices, and destinies. This legacy fills me with eternal gratitude.
