We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Al Siamon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Al, thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
In 1999, I came back from a trip in my motorhome; I heard a report that 2 million people got staph infection and 80 thousand people died. They went in for minor surgery and came out dead. I knew I had a product that could help this situation. I came out of retirement, in an effort to bring it to the world. I have spent over 2 million dollars as of today.
Al, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
In 2007 I started to negotiate with Nigeria to sell Clean Shield in their country. In 2012, we sold a million 250,000 bottles, for 3. 1 million. Doctors were using our product, people with malaria and every known disease in the world, with great results. We started having difficulty with the government, so I quit selling in Africa.
In 2019 I started selling here in America and changed the name to Balance7. It’s a very high pH of 11+, which dilutes the acid build-up in your body. When the acid is diluted, your immune system is fully awake, it can attack any disease that could attack you or is attacking you. The scientific world is spending millions of dollars to try and find a drug to activate the immune system. Balance7 does it now. We have supplied three oncologists that have admitted that their patients experienced a huge success with side effects and now don’t want to give any more patients Balance7, I am afraid they feel it works too well. They would no longer have any practice if Balance7 was used widely. Balance7 does not cure anything, it dilutes the acid in your body and allows the immune system to bring your body back to good health. The immune system is the key to living a longer and healthier life.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met Dr. Nooristani when I was in intensive care, when three viruses attacked me including covid. I was given a slim chance of surviving. My heartrate was going from 50 to 180 beats per minute, and they couldn’t control it. My wife brought me my Balance7. I started to drink it for three days. Dr. Nooristani was so amazed at my recovery, because on the fourth day I was sent home. He told me in 15 years of being a hospitalist, he’s never seen anything quite like it. He looked at all my medical records. He saw that I had heart surgery at 83 with no side effects. When I was 89, I had stage 4 cancer, and now I am cancer free. He was so intrigued he became my partner and drinks Balance7 every day.
Conversations about M&A are often focused on multibillion dollar transactions – but M&A can be an important part of a small or medium business owner’s journey. We’d love to hear about your experience with selling businesses.
I invented a product that was patented, no other product like it in the world. In 2019 I sold a business that had four partners. The business was growing 15-20% per year, it was grossing about 25 million a year in sales. I owned 49% of the company. We all agreed that if three of us wanted to sell the business we would, I was not one that wanted it sold. I sold the company to a very large company, which 21 million was owed to me. It had a clause in there that we had to gross 27 million the first year and 30 million the second year, or I would lose 11 million if the sales that were not met. It was not in their best interest to meet their sales and they didn’t. So be very careful if you are selling to a large company, they have ways of beating you. In order to try to meet some of their goals, I bought over 1 million of the products, which gave me a 3 million dollar return from this company. They stopped me from selling on Amazon or any other place.
