We recently connected with Akisia Belvin and have shared our conversation below.
Akisia, appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later?
I wish I would have started my Baking Business earlier in life when I first noticed that I was good at it and it actually can be a great Career that I love . When I started my Business on the side while working a 40 hour a week job , I didn’t have much experience in baking or chocolate making . I would watch a lot of Baking shows to perfect my craft . If I would have had the confidence back then that I have now I believe I would be further but I do understand timing is everything and to be great in your field takes time and experience .
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I started my Business as a side business while working a full -time job in 2013 and as I begin to grow and learn more about the Business through training and my degree in Business Marketing I decided to launch full – time in 2020 at the height of the pandemic which was a little
Scary but through my Faith in God he has truly sustain my business .
Owning your own business can be challenging but also rewarding
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes , I started my baking business as a side hustle with candy apples and cheesecakes on side the road and never thought it would be now my main source of income . I love what I do , as a little girl I always wanted to be a pastry chef and now I do pastry for a living . It did not happen over night but through time I was able to turn my side hustle into my full business
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
When starting my Business I took so many people objective/advice about what to do and not to do because of their pass failures . I had to realize their story was not my story and that o needed to learn from those who have push their business to the success level . It took a lot of praying and believing in myself to get to this level
