We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Akiode Olasunkanmi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Akiode thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
Referring my business to someone is a gesture I so much adore. It really means a lot when my business is being referred because it means someone somewhere appreciates the efforts I’m putting into the idea and they also want me to grow.
Anytime a prospect dials my number and say ‘ I was being referred’ I try as much as possible to get the name and send the referral a thank you message.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Wow! That’s a single question with thousand answers!
Anything online is Branding and Anything Branding is not magic nor automatic, it takes time.
First thing is to identify your customers so you know how to tailor your products to them. Identify and classify them, know where to meet with them and how to meet with them and direct your product to them.
I sat down and decided on who we want to tailor our products to, it wasn’t an easy task because it involves little calculations. We determined the age, their class and how much they earn on annual basis. These factors one needs to put into consideration when you decide to sell online.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Getting off the business is usually difficult step because they are lot of considerable factors and at the same time it is an easy step. The Initial steps are usually the difficult step while the rests are build up steps.
We didn’t had all we wanted at the point of starting but we looked for liked minds who share our visions, some were willing to work for a percentage control in the business while some worked and agreed to be paid in future with interest when the business starts making profit
We did A crowd funding from families and friends and larger part of the business fund came from my savings. You really need to learn to put one and two together inorder to get the business running if you’re from a family with constrained funds.
