Akim , appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
My best friend and I were having a casual conversation about business and life when he asked me the name of my photography page. At the time, I was taking a photography course and learning about shutter speed, which inspired the name “Shutter Flicks.” The concept felt fitting, as the shutter plays a crucial role in determining how the final “flicks” or photos turn out. The name resonated with me and captured the essence of my growing passion for photography.

I’m Akim Toure, a photographer who recently discovered my passion for capturing moments and telling stories through the lens. My journey into photography began with a casual conversation about business and creativity with my best friend, which led me to dive into a photography course. It was during this learning experience that I gained an appreciation for the technical and artistic aspects of photography, especially the concept of shutter speed. This inspired the name of my brand, Shutter Flicks, which reflects how the shutter plays a pivotal role in shaping the outcome of each shot.
At Shutter Flicks, I focus on creating visually compelling images that preserve memories, highlight unique perspectives, and connect with emotions. I currently offer services ranging from portraits and lifestyle photography to capturing special events. My goal is to ensure that every client feels seen, celebrated, and represented through my work.
What sets me apart is my commitment to learning and growing within this craft. As someone new to the industry, I bring a fresh perspective, a keen attention to detail, and a deep enthusiasm for storytelling through photography. I prioritize creating an environment where clients feel comfortable and confident, which translates into authentic and impactful images.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the ability to channel my creativity into a tangible form that resonates with others. I want potential clients and followers to know that my brand is built on passion, precision, and a genuine desire to deliver exceptional work. How did you build your audience on social media?
My journey to building an audience on social media began organically. I started by taking pictures at friends’ and mutual acquaintances’ birthday celebrations. Sharing those moments on social media not only showcased my growing skills but also created opportunities for others to see my work. As people noticed the quality and thoughtfulness of my photography, bookings and followers started to roll in naturally. It was a domino effect—happy clients shared my work, which led to more visibility and trust in my brand.
For anyone just starting to build their social media presence, my advice is to focus on authenticity and consistency. Share your work regularly and showcase your unique style. Engage with your audience—respond to comments, ask for feedback, and build connections with others in your niche. Most importantly, be patient. Growth takes time, but if you’re passionate about what you do and continuously strive to improve, your audience will recognize and appreciate that.
