We recently connected with Akary Busto and have shared our conversation below.
Akary, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
The Risk That Changed Everything
In early 2020, I was just beginning to step into the global stage of my work. People from all over were reaching out after hearing me on a Human Design podcast I had recorded in 2019, where I talked about the power of Breathwork in helping us decondition from the beliefs we had absorbed—culturally, socially, generationally. At the time, I was doing sessions over Skype, dipping my toes into something bigger but still unsure where it would lead.
Then, the world shut down.
When the COVID pandemic hit, everything shifted, and so did my work. I moved my practice to Zoom, and from there, it exploded. I started Wild Woman Wednesdays, a space for women to breathe, heal, and reconnect to themselves. What started as a personal practice quickly became a movement. I invited other facilitators to collaborate, creating a community rooted in sisterhood, growth, and deep transformation.
As more women found their way to me, I noticed something: they weren’t just looking for Breathwork. They were looking for something deeper—answers, clarity, a way to rewrite the stories that had shaped them. That’s when I felt the pull to dive into Human Design.
At first, I thought I could teach myself. Ha. That was my first mistake. Human Design isn’t something you just “figure out.” It’s a system woven from five ancient wisdom traditions—the I Ching, the Kabbalah, Eastern and Western astrology, the Chakra system, and Quantum Physics. It’s layers upon layers, each one peeling back another mystery. The language didn’t always feel intuitive, the concepts often clashed with what I had previously known, and, honestly, I found myself frustrated more than once.
But the deeper I went, the clearer it became: this was a missing piece.
As I worked with more women, I realized that Breathwork and Human Design alone weren’t enough to help them truly transform. Many of them had experienced deep trauma—domestic violence, childhood wounds, stories that ran so deep they didn’t even realize how much they were still carrying. And I was holding space for all of it.
By 2021, I hit a wall.
I was burned out, drained, and at a crossroads. I had built something powerful, yet I felt like I was pouring from an empty cup. The biggest risk of my life wasn’t starting my business. It wasn’t moving onto a global stage. It was pressing pause when everything in me said to keep pushing forward.
I walked away.
I took an entire year off from working with others and instead turned inward. I put myself through a rigorous six-month personal trauma intensive, not just to heal but to understand—deeply—what was holding me back, why I was exhausted, and how I could truly create lasting transformation for myself and others.
And I came out of it a different woman.
I studied the Heart-Brain connection, learning how to help people find true alignment. I dove headfirst into Quantum Human Design, dedicating another year to mastering the system. And then I added one more essential piece—Emotional Freedom Techniques (Tapping), focusing on Resiliency Keys within the Human Design chart. It all came together: Breathwork, Human Design, Nervous System Regulation.
That risk—stepping back, investing in myself, trusting that everything wouldn’t fall apart—became the foundation of everything I teach today. The certifications I gained weren’t just pieces of paper; they became the tools that have helped countless people create a solid foundation for themselves, tools they can use for the rest of their lives.
I always remind my clients: Every new level brings a new devil. Growth isn’t a one-time thing. Every time we step into the unknown, new challenges arise. But with the right tools, we build the resilience to meet them.
And I know they work. Because I use them every single day.
As my business grows, as I face my own next-level challenges, I continue to practice what I teach. I continue to strengthen my own nervous system. I continue to take risks. And I continue to trust that every leap—no matter how terrifying—is leading me exactly where I’m meant to go.
Akary, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Who I Am & How I Got Here
I got into my industry after years of being one of the few women at the table in the banking world—navigating local and global business footprints in an industry dominated by fast-paced decision-making, high-stakes sales, relentless number-crunching, and the constant demand to build and maintain relationships. My days were packed with corporate travel, speaking engagements, and boardroom negotiations. My nights? Short. My stress levels? High. My nervous system? Fried.
As a single mom, the pressure was even greater. The balancing act of excelling in a high-performance industry while raising a child meant my own needs were the first to go. Sleep was a luxury, eating well was an afterthought, and self-care? It barely existed. I lived in a constant state of high cortisol and burnout, but I had trained myself to believe that was just the cost of success.
Until my body started saying no.
I began experiencing the effects of chronic stress—exhaustion, brain fog, physical tension that never seemed to go away. And despite all my professional success, I felt disconnected from myself. Something had to change.
That’s when I found Breathwork.
It started as a small experiment—just something to see if I could slow down the chaos inside me. But the moment I experienced my first real breathwork session, I knew I had stumbled onto something profound. For the first time in years, my body softened, my mind quieted, and I could feel again. The impact was undeniable, and I needed to know more.
So, I dove right in.
I learned everything I could about Breathwork and nervous system regulation, and the deeper I went, the more I saw how deeply conditioned we are—by society, culture, family, and past experiences. The beliefs that kept me hustling, grinding, and prioritizing everyone but myself weren’t mine. They were inherited. And if I could unravel them, so could others.
In 2019, I shared my journey on a Human Design podcast, never expecting the ripple effect it would create. People from all over the world reached out, wanting to understand how Breathwork could help them decondition from the stories and limitations they had carried for years.
That’s when my work expanded.
I started guiding Breathwork sessions online, first through Skype and then, when the pandemic hit, through Zoom. I launched Wild Woman Wednesdays—a space where women could come together, breathe, heal, and reclaim themselves.
But something was still missing.
Breathwork was powerful, but I needed a way to help people go even deeper—to shift not just their energy in the moment, but the entire narrative that shaped their lives. That’s when I found Human Design.
Let me share that learning it was hard. It’s not just a personality tool, it’s a complex system that integrates the I Ching, Kabbalah, Astrology, the Chakra system, and Quantum Physics. It felt like peeling back the layers of a thousand onions, each one revealing deeper truths, contradictions, and insights.
And yet, I knew this was the missing piece.
Then, in 2021, I took the biggest risk of my career: I paused everything.
I stepped back from my work for an entire year to go through my own deep healing. I put myself through a six-month trauma-intensive, diving into the root causes of my own conditioning. I studied the Heart-Brain connection and learned how coherence can shift our entire experience of life. I spent another year immersing myself in Quantum Human Design and applying Emotional Freedom Techniques (Tapping), focusing on Human Design and Resiliency Keys.
And when I returned, I came back transformed—with a completely new way of helping people create real, lasting change.
What I Do Now
Today, my work is all about integration. It’s not just about learning who you are—it’s about rewiring how you experience yourself.
I help people move out of fight-or-flight, out of survival mode, and into a space where they can truly thrive.
My work combines:
✨ Personalized Human Design Readings & Reports – Helping people understand their energetic blueprint and rewrite the patterns keeping them stuck.
✨ Breathwork for Nervous System Regulation – Teaching breath-based techniques to release stress, reconnect with the body, and create resilience.
✨ Emotional Freedom Techniques (Tapping) on the Human Design Chart – Using EFT to clear emotional blocks, break old narratives, and build a stronger foundation for transformation.
✨ Wild Woman Heart Circle – A space for deep healing, connection, and expansion.
✨ Soulful Catchups Membership – A monthly space for women to recalibrate, realign, and reconnect through Breathwork, EFT, and coaching.
What Sets Me Apart
I don’t offer quick fixes. I don’t do surface-level healing. I don’t believe in forcing people into boxes that don’t fit.
What makes my work different is that it’s integrative. I don’t just teach these tools—I show people how to apply them in real time, in real life. I don’t just hand people information; I guide them through transformation.
And I live what I teach.
Every time my business expands, every time I take a new risk, every time I step into the unknown, I meet new challenges. And every time, I return to the very tools I teach—because they work.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m proud of the women who have stepped into their power because of this work—the ones who have left toxic relationships, broken generational cycles, and finally learned how to breathe in their own lives.
I’m proud of the risks I’ve taken, the moments when I could have played it safe but chose to trust my intuition instead.
And I’m proud that I’ve built a business that isn’t just about me—it’s about a movement. A community. A revolution in how we heal, how we grow, and how we reclaim our truth.
What I Want You to Know
If you’ve ever felt stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break…
If you’ve ever felt like you should be able to move forward, but something keeps pulling you back…
If you’re ready to stop just surviving and start thriving…
You’re in the right place.
Transformation isn’t about doing more. It’s about unlearning, unwinding, and reconnecting with who you really are. It’s about building resilience—not just for where you are now, but for every new level you’re about to step into.
And when you work with me, that’s exactly what we do.
Because every new level brings a new devil. But with the right tools, you’ll meet every challenge with strength, clarity, and trust in yourself.
I can’t wait to show you how.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience has been the foundation of my life from a very young age. I was brought to California from Mexico City when I was just two and a half years old. My mother, a single mom, made the bold decision to leave behind her father and stepmother to build a new life in the U.S. with her relatives. She struggled to learn English, so I had to adapt quickly, mastering the language at a young age to help navigate our new world.
As time passed, my mother remarried, and I became the eldest of five children in a home that was anything but calm. Chaos was the norm—between helping raise my siblings, managing household responsibilities, and working part-time to contribute financially, there was little space for anything else. But I had a dream, and I refused to let my circumstances define me.
Despite the demands of my home life, I excelled academically. I graduated in the top 3% of my high school class and was honored to deliver my graduation speech in Spanish. I had worked tirelessly to earn acceptance into some of the top universities, but when the time came to leave, fear became the deciding factor. My parents believed that going too far from home would be dangerous, so despite everything I had worked for, I let go of that dream and chose to stay.
But resilience isn’t just about enduring challenges—it’s about finding another way forward. Instead of allowing disappointment to break me, I adapted. I enrolled in a junior college, worked full-time to support myself and my family, and later transferred to a university to complete my degree. The path may not have looked the way I envisioned, but I made it.
Looking back, that experience shaped the foundation of who I am today. It taught me that resilience isn’t about waiting for the perfect conditions—it’s about showing up, pushing through, and creating your own opportunities. That’s exactly what I help others do now.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Pivoting has been a recurring theme in my life, but one of the biggest shifts happened when I walked away from a high-stakes career in banking to follow a path I never expected.
For years, I was one of the few women at the table in a male-dominated industry. I thrived in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, building relationships, closing deals, managing corporate travel, and delivering presentations. On the outside, it looked like success. But the reality? I was running on high cortisol, chronic stress, and survival mode. Add in the weight of being a single mom, and my life was a relentless cycle of long hours, little sleep, and no real self-care. I ignored the warning signs because I thought that’s just what success required—until my body and mind forced me to stop.
I hit a breaking point. I realized I couldn’t keep operating on burnout and neglecting my well-being. So, I made a choice that terrified me: I walked away. I had no clear roadmap, no guarantees, just a deep knowing that I was meant for something different.
That leap led me into the world of Breathwork. I began studying, practicing, and experiencing firsthand how powerful it was for regulating the nervous system and undoing years of stress patterns. It changed everything. When I shared my journey on a Human Design podcast in 2019, something unexpected happened—people started reaching out. They wanted to work with me, to understand how Breathwork could help them, too.
Then, the pandemic hit. The entire world was experiencing stress, fear, and uncertainty like never before, and I knew I had something that could help. I transitioned my practice onto Zoom and started running Wild Woman Wednesdays—a space for women to breathe, release, and connect. What started as a passion project became something bigger than I ever imagined. Over time, I expanded my work, incorporating Quantum Human Design and Emotional Freedom Techniques (Tapping) to help people not just cope but transform.
Pivoting was never the plan. But following my intuition—despite fear, despite uncertainty—led me to a life and business that is not just successful but truly fulfilling. Now, I teach others how to trust their own inner guidance, move through the discomfort of change, and step into the life they’re meant for.
Because I know firsthand—sometimes the pivots we resist the most are the ones that lead us to exactly where we’re meant to be.
