We recently connected with Aj Angels and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Aj thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned many different ways over time. Music has always been around me but I started to do something about it in a serious way when I first got to LA in 2015. Songwriting wasn’t something I felt someone could teach me , song structure sure but songwriting , just. had to let the pen fly and try to verbalize my emotions and my idea of the future . I also got a few singing lessons and went to a performance work shop ran in LA. Those things were nerve racking but make the difference of me not being afraid to grow in front of others.
Knowing what I know now I would say something I could have done to speed up learning process is invest in home studio as soon as possible, the ability to practice and get the songs going without pressure of time efficiency is beneficial.
The obstacles that’s stood in my way was more so financial , with that being the case that’s why making the proper investments at the fore front saves money in the long run
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a man that wants to reach the highest version of myself and in that kind of pursuit one may exhaust a lot of energy and that can also be correlated to trail and error of the self. My parents are from West Africa and came here with nothing essentially. I got into music from being a person who cares about self expression and finding a release of some sort. When I realized music allows me to manifest a better future and accept my past because it helped me grow , I realized this is something that will forever be apart of me.
I provide vocals, songwriting , I also do some directing for anything visual as well. Acting and film is a big passion of mine in general.
What set’s me apart is that I found my own sound , my own lane and I have no desire to be anyone but my self.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
It’s the future, truly. It’s new and requires investment , financial and energy. Anything like that makes it harder to dive in to or to apply too much towards because you have to be ready to essentially lose so you can learn.
However , art in many fashions are moving towards the NFT space so it’s definitely something to read up on and if you find an in to get your feet in the water.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The average income where my parents are from in USD is $85 a month and a little over a $1000 a year.
What drives me is making it count , that I’m here in America.
Inspiring many , and trusting the process.
I’ve been beating the odds my whole life. It doesn’t stop now
