Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aisha Martin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aisha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
I am a passionate advocate for STEM education, a mentor, and a proud STEMinist. I believe wholeheartedly in the importance of exposing our young people to the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and math from an early age. Because when we do that, we open up a world of possibilities for them.
Now, I didn’t get to where I am today all on my own. No, I leaned on the wisdom and expertise of others. Prior to launching Fems4STEM Magazine, I reached out to a friend who had already blazed a trail in publishing, and I asked her to show me the ropes. And you know what? She didn’t hesitate. She didn’t just give me a few pointers, she developed an entire 4-module course at my request to teach me everything she knew, and it was transformative! The beauty in that is, I didn’t have to figure things out on my own. The course empowered me with the tools that I needed to successfully move beyond the idea phase and launch Fems4STEM Magazine in 2022.
So, if you have a dream burning inside you, if you have a passion that just won’t quit, don’t be afraid to seek out guidance and support. Because when you combine drive and determination with divine inspiration and the wisdom of others, there’s no limit to what you can achieve!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve spent countless hours in the lab, honing my skills and gaining valuable experience at renowned institutions such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Emory University Medical School, The Georgia Public Health Lab, and Baylor Genetics. Years later, I decided to take my knowledge and expertise into the classroom and I became a science teacher. Through these experiences, I witnessed firsthand the lack of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the STEM industry. Particularly, I noticed the unfortunate reality that women of color, specifically Black women, were not receiving the respect and recognition they deserved for their groundbreaking contributions as STEM trailblazers and innovators.
Driven by a passion for change and a commitment to justice, I founded Fems4STEM Magazine. This publication serves as a platform to amplify the voices and accomplishments of these incredible women. Fems4STEM Magazine isn’t just another publication; it’s a movement. It is the first STEM publication dedicated to exclusively showcasing the achievements of Black women in STEM, breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes along the way.
Through my magazine, I increase visibility and brand awareness for these remarkable individuals, ensuring that their stories are heard and their accomplishments celebrated. But my mission doesn’t stop there. I recognize the importance of mentorship in nurturing the next generation of STEM leaders, and I am committed to providing role models and guidance for aspiring scientists, technologists, engineers, mathematicians and innovators.
In a world where representation matters more than ever, Fems4STEM Magazine is not just necessary; it’s essential. I am proud to be at the forefront of this movement, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable future in STEM. So, to all potential features, clients, sponsors, followers, and fans, know that when you support Fems4STEM Magazine, you’re not just supporting a publication; you’re supporting a movement for change.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is fueled by a deeply rooted mission to build a legacy brand that embodies effectiveness, empowerment, excitement, innovation, and tangible results. I am driven by a desire to inspire, empower and uplift the next generation of global STEM leaders.
Together, we can inspire greatness, break down barriers, and pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future in STEM. And that, my friends, is the driving force behind my creative journey.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Certainly! Building my audience on social media and establishing my reputation within my market has been a journey of authenticity, consistency, and genuine connection. It’s been about cultivating relationships organically, one post, one conversation, and one event at a time.
I’ve always stayed true to myself, remaining authentic, relevant, and unapologetically a woman of color in STEM and a proud STEMinist. And you know what? People respect that. They appreciate the honesty and transparency, and they’re drawn to the passion and dedication behind everything I do.
At the end of the day, I believe that people buy into people before they ever buy a product or service. That’s why I’m focused on building meaningful connections, fostering trust, and delivering value to my audience. And through this approach, I’ve been able to not only grow my social media following but also build a strong reputation.
