We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aisha Johnson . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aisha below.
Alright, Aisha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I discovered massage 6 years ago while getting a chair massage at my daughters new school. I knew that I was destined to be a massage therapist in that moment, it was like an Epiphany. I didn’t start right away I set some goals to accomplish before hand. One was to get my drivers license to that me and my daughter could get around easier. I started school in 2017 at the Holistic Massage Institute while working full time as a dental assistant and finished January 2019. That year I started doing seated massage at events and full body massages in my apartment while I studied to be certified. I passed my certification to be a licensed massage therapist in Maryland and I started traveling to clients homes also I worked at the Horseshoe Casino part time doing massage for the poker players before the pandemic. All that came to an end during the pandemic. I even lost my full time job as a dental assistant for a period collecting unemployment until the world opened for essential workers. I started traveling when it was safe too to my clients while I was pregnant in 2020. October 30, 2020 I was let go from the dental office of almost 10 years because a lack of work a month before I gave birth to my second daughter. I took a break from massage to be home with my girls full time, getting pregnant again when my 2nd child was 6 months old. I lost my unemployment September 2021 I still wasn’t massaging, I did doordash and gopuff with my almost 1 year old while 6 months pregnant. I had my 3rd child in February of 2022 I had planned to begin my travel massage practice in March but I didn’t feel ready. This past October 2022 I decided to take the leap while being behind in every bill. Me and my partner can’t afford daycare and we don’t have any family or friends support because everyone has there own hustle and problems. We decided to make it work while still taking care of the girls full time. Now I am back ready to live out my dreams welcoming new clients and recurring ones. It hasn’t been easy but I push through everyday.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Aisha Johnson and I am a traveling massage therapist my business is “Holistic Kamaria The Traveling Table “ My motto is “Guiding you to Feel, Relax and Heal”.
I combine Swedish, deep tissue, and stretching to provide you with the perfect experience. I use my intuition to guide me in each session and I always set an intention for each client before our session based on there needs. I help women through pregnancy, anyone with chronic pain or acute pain, people with stress and anxiety, or if you just need to relax. I believe that physical touch is so healing when done appropriately with the right intentions.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth has been the best way I receive new clients. I have a loyal client who is a patient at the dental office I used to work in and she is always referring clients. A lot of my clients or fellow massage therapist who are also clients send me clients. Doing massage at events also help too.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My energy, I have good energy and I love people. I always treat people good and respectful no matter the situation. I have healthy boundaries with my clients and I smile a lot. Whatever I have going on in my personal life I leave it at home.
