Aisan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I started art at a young age and I always got involved with fundraisers and would donate my paintings for different causes. when i was 18 I started a campaign with a group of young people and we would prepare months in advance with different talents we had, some would work on a play, I would paint on small canvases and little greeting cards, some others would knitt or make small wood crafts and we would announce 3 nights of a bazar where we would all be selling our labors of love to benefit a cancer treatment clinic where it was not getting any government funding what so ever . our group got bigger and bigger to a point that housewives became involved with their cooking and baking and sewing .projects and the bazar event had huge turnouts and eventually major donors and actors wanted to be a part of this fulfilling journey. with the help of hundreds of volunteers, big and small, the clinic expanded to large cancer treatment center. Omid hospital which means (Hope) in farsi language is the most meaningful project i have ever worked on and i will never forget the faces of families that smiled at us with hope to get their loved ones better and back home with them.
Aisan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Born and raised in Iran with a background in painting, sculpture, welding and design, I immigrated to United States at the age of 24 where I followed my dreams of being an artist and designer. Art was always a big part of me . As a child I used to make dresses for my dolls out of paper and fabrics, I would play with dry flowers, clay, chalk etc… at the age of nine my country went to war and those times are the darkest memories of my childhood and art was my only escape to a magical colorful world where everything was beautiful and peaceful. our school was bombed and as the city was becoming more unsafe, my family fled to a farm outside the town we lived at that time and I remember I used to draw families holding hands in front of their homes with fields of flowers surrounding them, butterflies and birds were everywhere. those are the times I started drawing SUNKIDS. They are happy characters of boys and girls whom represent peace and love and see the world as a beautiful place to be in. I was a SUNKID inside even when the fear of enemy bombers and their horrifying roars was filling up the big blue skies. I sold my happy creations on canvas and cards to benefit a cancer treatment center at the age of 17.
More than 25 years later, Art still is a huge part of me and who I am . I am inspired by life, nature, earth and through my art, I hope others to find a sense of peace, happiness and tranquility. Inspired by Earth and all its endless beauty, I try to depict the beauty of natural elements through dynamic colors , fluid movements, and organic compositions. I use acrylic paints, resin, and some other natural elements such as seashells, sand, washed up roots and each piece is unique and full of depth.the complexities of the multi dimensional colors and shapes are revealed, conveying a sense of wonder.
On my resin works, I build up each piece one layer at a time, carefully controlling the flow of the resin, while allowing it to settle on its own.
My world inside my art is where my body feels alive, my mind feels free. and my spirit feels restored. I pour my heart and should into each piece and that is what I am most proud of when it comes to my artworks.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I love the fact that what I created can make someone happy, it is the the most fulfilling feeling I experience through what I love to do for life. Art can give other people a new perspective. by sharing your art, you share how you see the world and perhaps create a new perspective for other people to consider. your work can expand minds and visions of others.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I dream of reaching many people with my art and share my passion with them. I am so passionate about creating new concepts and collections and spreading the energy I feel from being a creative person is a gift any artist lives for.
