Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Airyes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Airyes thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
As a kid, my passion for writing grew as I went along my academic career. I look back fondly at the reception I received through varies educators, but two stand out greatly. When I discovered that my papers were received with complimentary observations, something within myself lit up. These two instructors, in different times of my life, shared their admiration for me; I truly felt seen and understood. Most times at school, I would be given notes on what to change, but with my English teacher and Literature professor, I was given reviews of my writing. My English IV teacher celebrated my writing and she even asked to use my poems as examples for her other classes. My English 102 Literature professor, he looked at me with marvel, that’s how it felt every-time I received my graded paper back that summer. So to my two English educators, thank you for your kindness, I am grateful for you and hold our time together with utter honor.
What type of creative works do you provide?
Writing is magical. I find inspiration in words, I create melodic stories from a note, and I am transported by my imagination. Sharing my works has been more of a recent happening, and as I do, my confidence builds. How I write? I write in my own form. An exhale after a long swim up to surface, racing legs and a heart to match, a heaviness while floating in the waves, a feeling of fragility, while not becoming undone by it. My perspective is one and it is my own. I love to type paint. That is what I call what I do. I type and paint how I am a rooting tree, I am the forest, and the rain that feeds the seeds. I am a typing painter.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson that I am unlearning, is one on perfectionism. This lesson, that I maintained within myself, is one I am grateful to be releasing. It is a burden placed upon me somewhere, somehow, the origin is lost upon me at this moment. It excites me to be able to share my work and know that I can blossom as I go. I have a standard within myself and I know I am able to reach it, in time. For now, I give myself permission to trust the core of what I create and share.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission with my art is to help myself and others be present and create a life of one’s own. There is power in grounding and subtle shifts that can reveal to you, your most vibrant self. Be, be in the moment and see how change comes, as all that surrounds us does.
