We recently connected with Aimee Poynor and have shared our conversation below.
Aimee, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I don’t think there was one specific moment.. Growing up, I was always drawn to beauty in the small details, whether it was through shopping with my grandmother or watching my dad create with his hands. I didn’t know then that it would become my career, but I always had a strong interest and desire to create something special!
Later, after working in the fashion industry, I realized how much I cared about doing it my way, with intention, integrity, and a deep respect for craftsmanship. That’s when I decided to build something of my own. That’s how ANP Los Angeles started

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m the founder of ANP, a clothing brand built on quality, intention, and thoughtful design. My love for fashion started when I was a little girl, shopping with my grandmother. She taught me to pay attention to the small things—the stitching, the fabric, the way something was made. My dad, a creative and skilled craftsman, also played a huge role in inspiring me to pursue what I loved. He believed in me so much that he wrote the first check to help me start this brand.
Before launching ANP, I spent 10 years working in the fashion industry. I learned how brands were built from the inside out. But when it came time to create something of my own, I kept things really simple: I just started making the pieces I wanted to wear.
I was tired of spending 300+ on things that didn’t feel worth it—pieces that were poorly made, uncomfortable, didn’t fit quite right, or that I’d only wear once. To me, that’s just a waste. I wanted to create the wardrobe I was always searching for: beautifully made staples with perfect fits, premium fabrics, and timeless silhouettes that you could wear on repeat. Getting dressed shouldn’t be complicated—there’s already so much to think about during the day. Your wardrobe should be the easy part. I wanted to make getting dressed feel seamless.
ANP is for women who value the details. Who care about fit, feel, and longevity. Every piece is created with intention—designed to make you feel confident, comfortable, and like yourself. It’s not about chasing trends or being loud—it’s about creating a wardrobe you can rely on, day after day.
I’m proud that I built this slowly and honestly. It’s personal to me. ANP is for those who appreciate the craftsmanship, who notice the quality, and who believe in investing in fewer, better things.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part is seeing women actually wear and live in the pieces I created especially knowing the intention and care that went into every detail. It’s those messages from customers saying, “This fits perfectly,” or “I reach for this every day.” That makes everything worth it.
Also, just knowing that I took an idea, something that started as a frustration with what was missing in the market, and turned it into a brand that resonates with real people, that’s incredibly fulfilling. It’s rewarding to create pieces that simplify people’s lives, make them feel confident, and remind them that quality and comfort don’t have to be compromised.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that everything had to be perfect before putting it out into the world. I used to obsess over every single detail—wanting the branding, the product, the website, the content—everything to be flawless before launching or sharing. But the truth is, that mindset can hold you back more than it helps.
What I’ve learned is that nothing will ever feel 100% “ready.” You can perfect something forever and still find something to tweak. At some point, you just have to trust yourself, put it out there, and allow things to evolve. That applies to every step of the business—whether it’s launching a product, posting content, or pitching to a store. The clarity and confidence often come after the action, not before.
