We were lucky to catch up with Ailin Malimowcka recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ailin, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
For my whole life I’ve struggled with trying to fit. I’ve always felt bad for thinking, being, dressing or even doing things differently. With time, and specially after doing coaching sessions with my master Edgardo Caramella, I realized that that was what made me unique and I decided to embrace it. That’s what make my work special.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a self´-taught creative director, specialized nowadays in designing high-end residential properties and restaurants.
I got into my industry because of my interest in creating beautiful experiences that will last in time, because I came from fashion and everything was ethereal.
What I’m most proud of is that what I try to transmit, which is calmness, peace and joy, is sometimes perceived by customers, who contact me to thank me for making them feel special in the spaces I designed.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Enjoying everyday. That’s my lifegoal and I have to pinch myself everyday because that translates to everything: my work, my relationships, the city I choose to live in, my daily habits, food I put in my body.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Seeing the vision I had in my mind come to life. The final moment where the job is done and it’s finally the reflection, that was only a thought, in reality.
