Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aileen Ayala & Oscar Diaz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aileen Ayala, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We got into the business officially during the unspoken times, aka… 2020… Crazy to think where that has led us. The future was unknown, only thing we knew for sure was that we wanted to run with the idea of having the privilege to capture peoples most important time of their lives through our eyes and lens. It was scary, and it still is a lot of pressure, but wow is it rewarding. If you think about it the only thing we’ll have forever after our wedding or elopement passes is, maybe a dress, maybe some pressed flowers, but for sure the photographs are forever and they’ll live on for generations. It is an HONOR to be trusted in that form.
I believe what sets us apart is that we love the idea of a wedding or elopement being that, versus a photoshoot, in todays day in age, at times a wedding or elopement get planning as a photoshoot versus just a special moment. Essentially what I am trying to say is that we love capturing the moment as it goes, with some planning of course, but capturing the in between, the smiles, candids, that are just real. We love the photo-journalistic form of photography, capturing the raw emotions is the absolute best… and being able to deliver those moments are my favorite because it is moments they didn’t expect to be captured. I know that is what we’re most proud of.
We love true to real life colors, motion blur that makes you feel emotion, and a journalistic type of photography that makes you feel like you’re looking at stills from a rom-com.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Being happy. Joining our both passions, aka, photography + travel and doing it for a living. For as far back as we can remember we’ve always loved taking pictures, and travel has became our passion, we’ve travel to SE Asia, South America, Europe, and as of January, Africa as well. So being able to travel to photograph our couples special moment is something we will never take for granted… It really is the result of us smiling ear to ear.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe we stopped trying to be like everyone in our area and expanding our knowledge further than here, we’re constantly getting inspired from movies, cinematographers worldwide, and seeing the beauty in every tiny thing. Once we started doing all of that, we had a big pivot in the world of our business for the better. We started attracting couples who saw eye to eye, who love travel, who love being outdoors and going against social standards and norms. <3
