We recently connected with Ahmani Dawson-White and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ahmani thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I aspire to leave a legacy that embodies the power of hope, perseverance, and transformation. Six years ago, I faced the challenges of homelessness while pursuing my undergraduate studies in Georgia, serving as the president of a line item organization. Despite the adversity, I stored my belongings in a drawer, slept in my office after the janitorial staff left, and clung to the belief that my life could change for the better.
Today, I stand as a testament to the possibilities that arise from unwavering persistence and determination. Having earned both my Bachelors and Masters degrees, along with a paralegal certificate, I’ve not only overcome the hardships of my past but have also achieved my dream of homeownership, and I am blessed to be married to the love of my life.
I hope that when people reflect on my life, they see a story of triumph over adversity, a narrative of resilience and hope. I want to be remembered as someone who never gave up, no matter how bleak the circumstances. My journey serves as a reminder that life can take a positive turn at any moment with steadfast perseverance.
May my legacy inspire others to embrace hope in the face of challenges, to persist with determination, and to believe in the transformative power of resilience. I aim to be remembered as a symbol of possibility, illustrating that even in the darkest moments, one can emerge stronger, achieving dreams and finding happiness.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Certainly, one resource that has significantly impacted my management and entrepreneurial thinking is the book “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek. This book has been instrumental in shaping my philosophy by emphasizing the importance of understanding and articulating the fundamental “why” behind my endeavors. By constantly revisiting and reinforcing my purpose, which, in my case, is to help victims attain justice, I ensure that my actions and decisions are consistently aligned with my core values. “Start with Why” has provided valuable insights into authentic leadership, guiding me to lead with purpose and maintain a clear focus on the underlying mission that drives my professional endeavors.
