Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ahmad. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Ahmad thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the decision of whether to donate a percentage of sales to an organization or cause – we’d love to hear the backstory of how you thought through this.
Since I started my business, ongoing contributions to several organizations were set up.
As an interior designer, I believe my job is to enhance people’s wellness through the spaces they use whether it’s a workplace, their home or a place they visit temporarily.
To carry that mission even beyond out studio, we make regular contributions to City Meals on Wheels, No Kid Hungry, St. Jude Children’s Cancer Hospital, One Tree Planted and ASPACA.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
At AHMAD ABOUZANAT STUDIO, our design philosophy centers on creating timeless spaces that are both elegant and deeply functional. We believe that great design is not defined by trends but by how seamlessly it integrates into daily life—offering lasting beauty, clarity, and comfort. Our work is rooted in a refined sensibility we call “understated luxury,” where thoughtful materials, clean lines, and layered textures come together to form environments that feel both sophisticated and grounded. Every space we design is tailored to reflect the individuality of our clients while maintaining a strong architectural balance that will stand the test of time.
We also approach design as a tool for enhancing well-being—whether in a home, a workspace, or a hospitality setting. A well-designed space should support how people exist, move, and connect. By improving flow, defining atmosphere, and considering sensory details, we create interiors that feel intuitive and uplifting. When a space is aligned with a person’s habits, needs, and aspirations, it becomes more than just a backdrop—it becomes a source of calm, inspiration, and productivity. Our goal is to design environments that not only look beautiful but also improve how people feel and function every day.
At Ahmad AbouZanat Studio, we approach each project with fresh eyes, guided by the specific needs, context, and aspirations of the client. We don’t follow a one-size-fits-all formula—every Client is unique so every space requires its own unique response. What remains consistent is our commitment to thoughtful design, clear communication, and a deep understanding of how space can enhance daily life. This flexible yet intentional approach allows us to create successful, enduring interiors that resonate both functionally and emotionally.
Our business has done pro-bono work to support families and emerging small businesses that are seeking solutions thru thoughtful design.

Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?
Like most businesses, post Covid our business struggled a lot for some time. At the time we were based in NY full-time and the city shut down construction completely for a little over 6 months. When we were able to resume, it still took people a while to realize the importance of a well-designed space, to live and work in especially as a time and financial commitment,
During that time, and down time in general, we have to continue marketing and outreach both of which require putting yourself out there, being positive and energetic. Challenging to do when the business is struggling. In addition to that, marketing is a financial investment and committing to that at a time of uncertainty may come with a lot of hesitation. Truth is, it’s important to push through the doubt and focus on next steps.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Design, like most creative fields, is a process. It takes time, a lot of research and a lot of staying up-to-date with the new products being introduced.
Another important thing is that designing spaces that are tailored to individual Clients also mean there’s a learning curve about their lifestyle, personality and figuring out what their true priorities are beyond the surface. Getting to know people takes time and building trust to avoid mishaps.
